Title: Rusty Pressure Plate Springs Post by: arai_speed on May 28, 2008, 12:46:04 PM Hey everyone, I have a 2007 SR4RS and last night while installing a new CC clutch cover I noticed that the springs were starting to get rusty. Is this normal for such a new bike?
Should I remove them and and clean them up? Or get news ones? Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks. If it concerns you, I would buy those, they are only like $30 or so. You won't ever get the stock ones to stop rusting.

You won't ever get the stock ones to stop rusting. +1 - Stainless springs with some nice billet caps and you won't have to worry about rust again, unless you leave an open clutch in the rain. YRMV [thumbsup] The SpeedyMoto brand specifically has been sited as having this side effect. I've never felt it myself, but that doesn't mean much as quite a few others have. Retail is $39.95 and they come with the anodized caps and stainless bolts as well - definitely an improvement over stock aesthetically. They'll look rusty and then start to creak after awhile.
You can get stainless springs and keepers from Chris at CA Cycleworks here (http://www.ca-cycleworks.com/shop/catalog/ducati/engine.html). They're $34 and come in your choice of colors for your keepers. Chris is a great guy and super knowledgeable about parts and such. If you have any questions, feel free to ask him. Keep in mind that they will make a slightly stiffer clutch pull, but if I can deal with it, pretty much anyone can.
