Title: Sourcing pigtails
Post by: erkishhorde on December 23, 2009, 04:30:15 PM
Anybody know where I can find pigtails like the ones used by the Battery Tender and random heated garments? I've dug around and have come up empty. I don't really want to just buy one from Battery Tender or anyone because I only need the pigtail part for a project.

Have you tried aerostitch?

erik, try Orvac in Fullerton.  If you can walk in the store with one, that's probably the best.  Their website is a fraction of what they have on hand.

I was JUST looking at these the other day to use my pig tail connection for other things while on trips or camping.....

Here's the link to the aerostitch website where they have those:

http://www.aerostich.com/aerostich-suits/kanetsu-electrics/hookups-and-accessories (http://www.aerostich.com/aerostich-suits/kanetsu-electrics/hookups-and-accessories)

Although some of the other websites posted above, specially the electronics specific might have more options. Also if you buy a "Battery Tender" brand charger they come with the pig tail to install.

You can also pick one up from your dealer for $5 or $15 installed (Ducati Miami pricing) if youd rather save yourself the trek of getting to the battery (not that hard though)......

Exactly what I was looking for.

Thanks a ton guys. Now to go break things and see if I can put them back together and still have them work.  ;D

Bugger. FYI, these connectors do NOT match the Battery Tender cables.  :-\

interesting. what doesn't match?

I purchased a set of cable extenders from radio shack the other day that I used to make a couple of battery tender extenders. http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3870003 (http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3870003)

The bullets on the plugs are about the right size but the spacing is off by about a 1mm (too wide apart) so they won't mate. I got 2 (male and female) and neither of them will fit my Battery Tender cable so I don't think it's a tolerance thing.

Pigtails?

I've always preferred these.
