Title: LED turn signals?
Post by: CCEMN1 on December 29, 2009, 10:29:08 AM
Can you retrofit LED turn signals on a 2007 S4RS without changing the blinler module?
Sorry about my ignorance guys, but I'm a newbie with my first Duc.

Hmm don't seem to have anything in our tutorials section. I'll have to check that out more, later.

Short answer - yes

long version - you cannot change the flasher relay on your bike, so don't worry about it. That relay is an integrated part of your dash electronics. Unless you're an electrical engineer it's not possible to alter it. It's only the pre immobilized bikes that have flasher relays that could be pulled out

The blinkers will work fine regardless of that. They will cycle faster than stock, if you have LEDs front and rear. If you want to bring them back to the stock flash rate you add some resistors. The most common set up is to wire them in parallel to the rear signals and secure them under the seat. BTW I've got a set of the right resistors already wired with bullet connectors that I'm trying to sell out of my parts bin. PM if interested

Many aftermarket turn signals look out of place on the stock beer tray, so unless you're chopping - how about this while you're working on the signals.....

I installed aftermarket LED's front and rear and Yuu's right. They start blinking at the stock rate, but then speed up to approx twice the stock rate.

I'd like to think the extra blinking, and brightness is more noticeable.

Yes, I plan on chopping the rear subframe and installing a set of your CNC aluminium plugs (I called you guys today & never got an answer or call back?)
I also share SuperJohn's feelings about the blink rate, but I'll have to see just how fast first. A also run a brake light flasher, for the same reason.
Thanks guys!

Be aware that the resistors get *quite* hot, I've repaired melted insulation on wiring from a poor install.

Well any if the sponsors are just sponsors and there's s bunch of em. Some do haunt the board, but not all. Tis holiday season so they might be off. And if you're new to Ducs do not try to get stuff from italy in august.
