After four years being monster-less, I drove up to Louisville yesterday and put the deposit down on a brand-spanking new 2010 Monster 696 (Dark). Unfortunately, its staying at the dealership until all the parts come in and are put on the bike (CF Termis, 14t front sprocket, frame sliders, tail chop kit).
I would have driven it home yesterday but its damn cold here right now, and I'm still waiting on the delivery of my helmet and leather jacket. Needless to say, once all the parts and gear arrive, I'm going to be riding regardless of the weather.
Having to leave my brand new Monster sitting in the showroom with a sold tag on the handlebars hurt quite a bit. The last time I felt like that was the first time I dropped my son off at daycare and he started crying when I went to leave. :'(
I'm still looking around for insurance for the bike so if anyone has any companies that they've received a good quote from, let me know.
check with USAA first, then check Progressive.
I got a ridiculously lower price from State Farm than I had at Progressive with about twice the limits.
Doesn't exist without pix! [evil]

Sold tag? Those just mean "sit on me and bounce up and down!" [evil]
Cheers!

Louisville? As in Kentucky? And it's too cold? What a wuss!!!!!!! [laugh]
Try out New England for a while if you want to see what cold really is!

AFAIK, you don't even ride in the rain-you're not allowed to point fingers. ;) :P

Tom is just afraid to get his bike dirty. I guess he never heard "a clean bike is the sign of a sick mind".
Congrats!!!
I have Foremost and found them to be the cheapest.

The existance of weather worse than that currently parked over Louisville in no way makes the weather in Louisville worth riding in... That is why my VFR is comfortably parked in the garage with a battery tender.
You are right though, your weather is worse. I've been communting up to Hartford for 3 yearsfrom Louisville and probably just took my last trip. I'll miss the pizza, but not the snow in a rental car.
Back on topic, I may just have to go down to commonwealth and - -uh test the suspension for you...
Oh hell, I was riding all winter when I live in Great Falls, MT. Though I must admit I stayed home on thsoe five days it got down to 20 below zero.
Congrats on your new ride.
State Farm insurance was MUCH cheaper than anyone else for me in CA.
Happy New Year! Ciao!
