Bummer for us Northeast riders.

No shocker there.
There is still a qualified tech in the area.

Yes he is.
He's a sponsor...http://ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=18933.0 (http://ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=18933.0)
I wouldn't be surprised to see his location changing in the future.
Something in Laconia perhaps.
Cool. Will have to drop by when it warms up a little. Thanks!
well that sucks
although, they've always been just too damn far away for me.
it would be nice to have a bcm closer to home
ouch
QuoteDucati is ignoring all the economic conditions and will continue to import more bikes and leave their dealer network swamped with non current product, bad move on their part. They are really going into 2010 blind just as they did in 2009 when they projected 10% growth over 2008 (one of their best years ever). So i am not sad to see that relationship end just the one with friends and great customers.

This from a guy that took the premier northeast shop to ruin in what, 4 years?
I'd be looking for a scapegoat too.

I don't know that's totally fair though. All of the dealers I talk to have said their sales are remarkably slow and that Ducati has been pushing bikes on them. Coleman's usually has 8-10 Ducatis on the floor, last time I talked to them they had 14. They just aren't moving as fast.
Sucks all around, no doubt.
Although, I have to say, having a shop out in the middle of "make the beast with two backsing nowhere" is not a great idea in my book. A shop like that needs to be closer to bikers. He will still get the high-end work, but all the smaller stuff (like ppl who don't want to do their own oil changes) he loses due to the distance, and work like that is >gravy< because you can teach your dog to do it and charge full labor.

Probably isn't...there is no love lost between us.
Bruce managed to flourish in the same location...through growing a business.
just sayin'.
Understandable but still sad to hear. They were a bunch of good eggs and Well know the performance Ducati world.
They got any cool leftover billet accessories? I remember they had made some cool valve covers, cam covers, and even a clutch side cover (long before speedymoto). Since they be closin', I'd be willing to throw some jingle there way to clear out old parts inventory.
Seems like back in the day, they used to be one of "THE" names for Ducs. Kinda sad, but I never had any FHE since that part of the country is far too cold and lacking sweet tea, for my taste.
Wow, that sucks. Shit, another dealer down, my condolences to the locals.

growing a business when the economy is booming is arguably a smaller feat than keeping a business afloat when the economy is in the shitter.
seriously, small business loans 5 years ago were easy to get, you just needed to show up with a balance sheet showing you weren't bloowing all your income on coke. now, it's nearly impossible even with perfect credit and assets.
is this their website? http://www.bcmducati.com/ (http://www.bcmducati.com/)
I'd like to order some parts and at least try and help.

This business was built long before 5 years ago...but you're right about financing for the average business.
That wasn't the problem here.
You had to see it happen to really appreciate it.
Doesn't matter...the employees have jobs at a good shop that seems to be thriving despite the economy and Ducatis poor forecasting, the owner won't starve and there is still representation of the brand not
that far away both on a dealer level and independents.

I never understood the "wow" factor that alot of people have/had with BCM. I neverhad any service done there.
I will say this.... I got to know Eric from meeting him at his shop and he's a great guy. That's why I chose him to do my suspension work over the winter.

Having Eric do your suspension is a very good choice. He does top notch work and is a great guy to boot.
I'm glad Kyle has found employment elsewhere, he's a good guy. To me, since the current owner took over it's been hot and cold. One day you call up there and get great service and the next they're yelling at you over the phone. The current owner did something pretty make the beast with two backsed up to a friend not too long ago and that was NOT cool at all. I don't want to get into the details but I'm sure DP knows what I'm referring to. After that, I'm glad they're closing up shop. Ain't Karma a pregnant dog! ;)
The last thing I want to be is insensitive but does anyone know what will be done with the equipment and loads of used parts in the attic?
I want Bridgeport! and ultrasonic parts cleaner! and AMA spec lightened gears and 748R cams and pankl rods and [laugh]
Damnit there goes the downpayment on a house [bang]
edit: when is Eric buying the dyno?
Stefan (Gage) you should buy all that stuff. Then we can set it up in my garage. The wife can keep her car outside!

I'm sure the stuff is for sale...everything else seems to be in this world. :-\

Tempting... Finish the space above it and don't charge me rent and we could have a deal. You're corvette would have to live outside also so the S4's have a place to park [thumbsup]

Why I am not surprised in the least to see this news? The new owner was an asshole on the DML before he owned BCM and a bigger one after.
I wonder what the real estate is worth? [roll]
and what's involved in becoming a NH resident?

Becoming a resident is just moving there and having an address. I would suggest that maybe they have a test or something you would have to pass but most of the currecnt residents in NH can't even read so who's gonna grade it? [laugh] [laugh] [laugh] [laugh]

The real estate is not part of the deal.
He rented.
Better Idea...
Everyone contributes money and then we buy the dealership and run it as a non-profit. Motorcycles will be sold as close to rock bottom as possible and parts will be sold at 10% over cost to cover administration costs. Nothing else associated with a dealership will be maintained like maintenance, apparel, etc.
Dealership will serve only the internet community and will be open only on Saturday for two hours.

I'm pretty sure service is part of the franchise agreement.
Ok I'll do the service in between drinks... It'll be so bad that nobody will want our service.
I vote that Gage will work the store EVERY Saturday. It was his idea.

There are many current residents that have been my friends for the last 20 yrs...I get pretty protective of them.
I also dislike generalizations...
there are a few about people from south of my border...
should I apply them?

Hey, I represent . . . errr. . .resent . . . .errr . . . actually I am technically a NH resident.
I have never had any work done at BCM. Seems I got into Ducati just after the ownership shift at BCM. I have heard a lot of personal opinions from more than a few people, but have no FHE. I have been to Seacoast a few times, mostly for parts. That have made a couple of mistakes but did a good job fixing them and making it right. Looks like my standard will be Seacoast for parts and drooling on bikes and DucVet for and service that I can't handle.
kind of sucks that everyone is bagging on bcmducati and BCM is no longer associated with them at all...

Lots of things get to me Tom
Good riddance.
BCM was indeed special when Bruce owned the dealership. Going there was like visiting friends and family, the only difference was you got a bill at the end.
The good news is the family is not gone, just more spread out. Eric is on his own at Club House Motor Sports, we are blessed to have Jay back in New York at European Cycle Service and both Miles and Kyle will be at Seacoast. Bruce is busy doing stuff to help the Ducati community.
Looks like Seacoast will be picking up the void left by BCM

Won't someone else piss and moan about the shop closing? it's been a long time since anybody posted. [evil]
You must have some inside dirt, throw out a bone to be chewed. ;D
No dirt, just don't see it as that big a deal!
If it were Bruce shutting it down, that would be news. As it is, meh.
Something will happen to fill the void.
