I bumped into the Ride for Kids (they raise $ for kids with brain tumors) booth at the Seattle IMS earlier in the month.  I was thinking about it and jumped in the net to check into it some more last night.  That's when I found this guy who is trying to raise $318 a day for $318 for Ride for Kids.

Don't think he has a clue as to how challenging it's going to be but I applaud his efforts.

I applaud the cause but the whole...."I'm only posting here because I want your money" aspect rubs me the wrong way.

While I disagree with how this was posted, I thought I would provide more info.

This guy used to be a member here and on the old board under a different name (no, its not Mother). He's put forth efforts to raise money for the Elsie May Ride as well, which raises money for a local hospital's brain institute. Everything is legit and the money is going to the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation.

Hi all it's Neikos - I'm back after months off the board.  I submitted my Introduction per the suggestion below even though I'm not really a new member but a returning member.

So . . . had I not been stuck in my third person press release mentality what I would have posted would have been along the lines of:

Hello I've been away for 6 or 9 months doing other things.  This summer I was a member of the committee that founded the Elsie Mae Memorial Ride http://pdxriders.com/index.php?title=Elsie_mae_memorial_ride (http://pdxriders.com/index.php?title=Elsie_mae_memorial_ride)in Portland, OR.  We raised $1951 dollars for the Providence Brain Institute.  After our event I still wanted to do something to make the world a better place.

I'd supported the Ride for Kids program over the years and found that you can raise funds all year long not just on the day of the event and have decided to try to raise a LARGE amount of money for them over several months.
