Title: How to drop 2lbs from your S2R1000 (pics added)
Post by: NAKID on December 31, 2009, 01:58:04 PM
So, finally got around to doing the 520 conversion on my S2R1000.

Lightweight AFAM 15t front sprocket, DID 520 x chain in black, Stealth lightweight 44t rear sprocket.

Stock front and rear sprocket were 3lbs 12oz, new are 2lbs 8oz.

Stock chain was 4lbs 8oz, new is 3lbs 8oz.

Total weight loss = 2lbs 4oz

Needed to go and buy an electric impact gun since I don't have an air compressor anymore.

P.S. Stu, the block of wood idea didn't work

I used a screw type master link, really easy. Made sure to shorten the eccentric first to allow for the upcoming chain stretch.

Can't wait to give take it out and feel the difference, lighter weight and 1 tooth up in the back (total of 3 up from stock, 41t stock, had a 43t S4Rs sprocket for a while).

Pics will be up when I clean up the area around the bike first...

Now with pics...

 [thumbsup]

I lost 4 with my conversion, but I also lightened the rear rotor, and used Ti bolts everywhere.  The bolts were worth a little more than half a pound, the rotor was the other good chunk :)

Yeah, but no one else is crazy enough to make a Ti rotor...

There's only Ti on/in my body, not my bike...

It looks great, and my post wasn't made to take anything away from yours  [beer] (sorry if it came off that way)

I'm at work, no one is flying around tonight, so I'm REALLY bored).

Happy New Year!

Not at all. Just saying you're a nut for doing the Ti rotor. Plus making fun of the Ti rod and screws in my leg...
