Hey guys, lady friend picked me up a track stand for xmas  ;D single sided of course. Now, as there's no 'locking' mechanism to keep the bike on the pin, am i asking for trouble by leaving the bike on it for days on end??

nope, nothing to worry about, mine has sat on it day in day out for the last 6 years as did my 748sp before that. the weight of the bike sits on the rear axle so unless some bonehead DELIBERATELY pushes it off it won't go anywhere.

Betty has one too and no issues leaving the bike up there for maybe months on end

Mine lives on the rear stand, no problem.

I have an Anderson Stand with wheels which allows me to move the bike around the garage.......really cool. Never had a problem - stable as.

I have both the front and rear stand, best money I have ever spent! makes life easier for cleaning, service, wheel removals, everything.
Anderson stands are the best  [thumbsup]

Yep,The first working prototype is finished.It can be used on both sides of the bike so you can work on the sprocket side or the wheel side.They will be going into production in 2 weeks.
Anyone that is interested let me know.

how do you get the bike up onto the axle pin?

That's in the raised position.
You can see the two pedals big one is to lift the bike up the smaller to drop it down.

To get the shaft into the axle in the lower position (not shown) you just wheel the stand in as the bike rests against
your hip.

so the bike needs to be upright? you can't slide the pin into the axle while it's on the side stand?

Vince wants to start production next week.
He has my rear stand to measure the SSS for Monster/Multi/848

And no the bike cannot be on the side stand, it does need to be upright.
It might sound difficult but it works sooooo much better than the usual rear stand.
No I don't have any financial interest in the making or selling of the stand, I just like it and it works.

well good luck to vince getting them made and sold, i like the idea of being able to use it on both sides of the bike, but really, the std type of stand is an absolute doddle to use and the way you described using vince' prototype i can't see it being easier, let alone being soooo much better.

My space saver Anderson is not so easy to use.
My first one for DSS worked a treat, this one is not so easy.
If your talking normal stand with two wheels then it doesn't compare.

yeah, i use a normal sss stand, never even seen a space saver anderson. gotta say though, with the amount of cash i throw at my toys and my severe lack of height (and leverage from down low) the easier the stand works the better for me.

From the way you are describing it, it should be a piece of cake to use.

Im currently using a bike lifter (the forklift type) which in its standard form is useless for a Ducati, but I've extended the arms it so I can stand the bike upright & slide a rod between the lifters arms & into the rear axle.  Its easy to use, but unfortunately ties up my bike lifter, so I'm keen to get one of these as soon as they are ready!
