Well after many many years in the corporate world (which has been good to me) I quit my job today and am embarking on a major Sea Change. My partner and I are retiring from the corporate world whilst still young and fit enough to enjoy our retirement.
But not in AUS. We are selling up and moving to the Philippines (yes she is from the Philippines). We shall be travelling for the first 6 months or so round the provinces (7,100 islands) visiting friends and family and looking for our bungalow on a beach to settle in. We aim to live simply and comfortably and do some volunteer in that community to keep us active and give something back for a change.
So my next Duke may very well be a Honda 90cc (mmmmmm...... wonder how a CF exhaust will go with a DP ECU [roll] ....).
This means my belovered “Sugar S4RT†has to find a new home :'( :'( ...... She will be posted in the for sale section very sooooon..... Also will list all the spares I have as well (man where do you start).
Exciting and nervous times ahead.
I have absolutely enjoyed all your company, friendship and ride / track days and generally shooting the breeze. I shall miss you all but there will always be a straw mat available for any wayward visitors. Long as you don't mind 6 of us on the 90.......
I will be round till about mid March so a catch up drink shall be in order before I leave the building......
Trev, this is making me both sad and excited - sad for our community losing a valued member, and exciting knowing you are setting off on a new chapter that will be rewarding for you.
We'll definitely have a send off, and it will only be a send off in body - I know you'll keep in touch (and provide a great holiday destination when you find that secluded island beachside bungalow!)
Cheers
Nick
Mate even though im only the new guy but congratulations!
You are taking a massive step which 2 have my close friends bailed on completing...
Well done and best of luck!
Big T!!!
I was wondering when I saw these 4th of January 2010 pics of the Monster on your Flickr.
You know who wants to be her next owner, don't know if the new baby girl can have a new baby girl no.2
You know we are sad :'( to see you leave our shores and to have to sell the Sugar Monster.
The new life will be magnificent anything but working would be just wonderful.
Of course there will be a send off and defiantly one last ride.
cheers
Matty...

Geez, that sounds a bit grim.
I stand by my earlier troppo comment ;)
Damn I wish I could flee the corporate world and go live on my choice of 6400 islands. Awesome to hear you are living (another) dream Trev. Between mountain biking down errrm, massive mountains and living on islands you seem to be doing something right from a Kharma perspective.
It was always a pleasure getting pasted by that S4RT round a corner. You'll be missed mate. I think Jukie is in shock.

I'd be shit scared to make that move...
Ita
Hey Ita believe me I have my moments where I ask "WTF am I doing".....
It is exciting and scary all at the same time. But for those of you who know me, you know I love a challenge...... ;D [evil] ;)

Good on yer.
Sure it's a "challenge" but you're a long time dead as they say.
Anyhow what's the worst that can happen? You have to comeback to Oz?
I've spent a fair bit of time in foreign parts ( and no, you dirty buggers, that's not because my wife is french!) some friendly, some not, but those experiences are gold. Certainly "what if?" and "if only" aint gonna be in my vocabulary by the time I kick the bucket.
Well done young man!!

Nah, its brilliant. What more could a girl want on Valentines Day?
Two birds killed with one thing he was gonna do anyway. This 'about to be retired' Big T is a smooth and shrewd operator.

Ahhh, excellent point!
Now I need to find myself a girl who's birthday is 14 Feb, and start going out, propose to her, and marry her all on Feb 14. Then I only get in trouble for forgetting _one_ "important date" a year! _And,_ it opens up several more riding days per year - _Brilliant!_
big (no-one must tell Rachel of this plan - her birthday is in _september_)
All this news Trev.
Leaving Oz
Leaving the Monster
Leaving a married man.
I think I might have to sit down for a while.
Congrad's Big T very pleased for you and Mrs Big T.
Hey Trev leaving the country ok.
But getting Married AGAIN that takes Balls ;D
Best Wishes Rob. :-* :-*
Only two options in my book for a wedding that you won't forget.......
Valentines Day (Romantic stuff) and July 1 (Won't mess up my tax return).....
And July 1 ain't toooo romantic so Feb 14th it is.... ;D ;D ;D
Congrats Trev,
Are you going to have the Sugar bike at the ceremony dragging the cans & tins along?
OK, first..
Congrats Trev! I'm sure you'll enjoy your move! Seeing as my girl is also a FIlipina, I spend lot sof time there, and there are some great little beaches!
Second...
May I suggest Dumaguete, Malapascua, Southern Leyte, or any of the other really cool dive places I have been over the last 3 or 4 years? That way, I can crash on your couch, and then we can dive the next morning (You will be diving, right?)
Third - Coffee kinda sucks there, so perhaps send yourself and lovely lady to Mecca or Coffee Alchemy to learn to make a proper coffee, then open a cafe... Hurry - you have less than 2 months!!!
Fourth - Ducati *DO* have a presence in PI, lots of Monsters there to choose from :)
Z...
Ninja edit - Actually, Cabilao Island, in Bohol is the go! Short boat ride from the main island, Satellite interweb at the school in the middle of the island, they *may* have electricity, you can get 3G phone reception (if you climb the right tree) and the wall.macro diving is awesome! A Proper boat with a couple of big V8's will see you get to Cebu City in just an hour or so for shopping :D.
Thanks Zee for the heads up. Always great to get first hand info from a fellow "Local".....
I shall certainly stay in touch and a straw mat will always be available for any "visitors...". [thumbsup]
MMMmmmmm so Monsters do live in the Philippines... [roll] Interesting.... [moto]
Yup, a lot of them, actually. MAinly Cebu and Manila, of course, but if there is a presence, it mans oyu can buy one. Servicing may be interesting if you live far form these centers, so it may pay to get a 2 valve and learn to do your own work.
Though, even fi there isn't, the big 4 do also sell their top end stuff pretty much everywhere, though it may be special order in some parts. I know I saw a few GSXR-1000's (current ones) running around in Dumaguete, which is quite a small town, really. Which means the other models should be easy enough to get hold of. But I'd go a Monster, perfect for the roads there - if not a Motard...
Z...
congrats mate!
well done!
Just when Trev was planning a quite retirement Zee goes and blabs that "there's Monsters in them there parts!"
Lookout there'll be a new sugar in no time just you wait and see.
Hi Trev, it's Smee.
I haven't been here awhile (my own reasons we won't go into) and just happened to look in and read what you will be up to shortly. I was sad & happy at the same time.
Hope that every good thing in life comes your way in your new adventure and that you will find your little piece of paradise to hang your helmet.
Big hugs,
Smee.
( ;D Super ;D )
hey Super how you doing, missed ya mate
Hey Super (Smee)
Has been a while. See what happens when you go AWOL for a while..... ;D
Exciting and scary but really looking forward to the challenge and doing the adventure with the wife to be this time.
Always be a straw mat for you when you visit my friend.... [thumbsup] [coffee] [drink] [beer] [wine] [popcorn] [bacon]

I'm good. Growing increasingly frustrated being bikeless. And even more so that I still really can't afford one. Waiting for those elusive Lotto numbers to pop out or just will have to save my pennies. :-\
Just back from Canada to visit the outlaws. :P
Very envious of what you are about to do Trev. Also congrats to both of you on your engagement. She's a lucky girl. :-*
Anyway, keep in touch Trev, I might take you up on that offer of a straw mat. ;)
