Think you've got a better design eye than the fancy pants at the ducati factory?
Think you've got a better design eye than your fellow board members?
Think you've got a better paint scheme than ME?
Did I mention it's a hypermotard, and therefore needs LOTS OF F*&#ING HELP in the looks department!?
Well... Hellllp! I'm picking up twill weave CF bodywork slowly until tax day, then going to get it painted including YOUR design suggestions, if any of them don't suck. Here are your guidelines and inspirations:
I like the predominantly red HYM. Take your primary inspiration from the bodywork of the 999r: red over CF. Not all red everywhere, though; let's show some of that mesmerizing twill weave.
I will follow on with my current direction. Post your designs or suggestions!
Following below are templates for most of the parts for you to design on.
This should be fun!

And here's what I've got so far...
I know it has a strong resemblance to Roland's hyper. So let's get over it already.

And my drinking didn't help my photochop abilities on the light cover so let's get over that too.
I'm not giving up my ideas. ;D.....but the hugger needs to be reversed. [thumbsup]
reverse the side covers too

I generally agree with you. Red paint with a pinstripe over CF weave... Fairly classic. I also have faith in ducpainter's ability to execute these photochops in a sensible, attractive way. And to air concerns if he thinks it looks like shit.

You will have achieved for $25.00 a look that Ducati calls the Multistrada [laugh] and also you will have deterred potential theft.
I generally agree with you, too. Looking forward to seeing the new Multi in person, though.
It'll be great to let some CF show through ... one great use of it was on the Honda NR750:

The words "NR" logo etc are actually CF bits unpainted.
Cheers
I did this to my buddies hyper, simple but looks good. red subframe tri color graphics

The neimen marcus edition hypers at AMS look similar (tricolors) and its a really nice scheme. They also had the subframe powdercoated to match along with a few other odds and ends. Really tastefully done in the end.

say whut?
[cheeky]
I got to say so far your is the best...with the hugger left plain ole carbon fiber. I think with no red it will sort of disapear until you are really looking and then it one of those parts that really doesnot to be carbon...but it is! [thumbsup] I love how the Ducati on the tank is just unpainted carbon...very clean! I like a red subframe also...or if you really want to get sill do the warm bronze frame and wheels like a 95 monster!!!! Anything you do will be awesome! Good luck!
Thanks guys
Reviving the thread; going to do a bit more work and finalize. Then it's up to DucPainter :o

It's not flat black, it's 'suede'. With white walls of course. And maybe some minimal red/white pinstriping. I mean, if you're going rat rod do it right. Does Pirelli make white walls? :P
Scott
Update: Gone are the pinstripes. Red and CF, a classic "R" setup ;)
I was told the pinstripe would be quite expensive... and I wasn't crazy about it in the first place.
