Anybody looked at drilling/tapping the swingarm for zerk fittings? Replaced the adjuster heim joints with zerk equipped ones?
As I find myself taking more and more parts off the bike this winter I'm thinking it will be a good idea to grease the bearings. Haven't taken the swingarm off yet, so don't know if there is room between the bearing races for a grease gallery.

Yes Speeddog. I have an 03 Aluminum DSS. Was thinking of drilling and tapping the area between the two bearings shown in the workshop drawing. But maybe the two bearings are too close in reality. Can't see doing the heim joints, so maybe this is just a bad idea and I'm better off disassembling the arms and relubing the bearings manually.

That's what I did. It's not that hard once you're in there.

Any reason the same couldn't be done for the triple stem?
Don't know. I just took the triples off to file the casting seam on the bottom one and lube/adjust the bearings and, to lube the top bearing, I'd have to inject and fill under pressure the cavity between the stem and the headstock with grease. It would be good for the bottom bearing but probably not as effective for the top bearing.
i've thought about it and it seems a tiny groove (like 2mm deep max) could be machined into the stem for the length of it. turn the triple to line the groove up with the zerk fitting and the grease would push to the top and bottom jsut fine. don't know if this is a bad idea though.
The swingarm bearings are in the crankcase.
IIRC, the bearings are butted up against each other.
They're not easy to remove, either.
