Title: Heel Guards
Post by: The Bearded Duc on January 06, 2010, 12:51:15 AM
Does anyone know if these will fit my '01 M750?

Looks a bit like a heel guard for Cyclecat rearsets?

Those won't fit the stock rearsets. And yeah, the do look a lot like Cyclecats.. if not actually CC, very close.

The sort needed for stock rear sets will look like the ones on this page - most of the ways down

I thought all the dual sided swing arm monsters used the same heel guard.

They do. Stock ones are stamped aluminum - I just found the CF ones faster. The shape's the same, just different materials. The ones' in that OP ebay link are for something aftermarket. The ebay seller appears to be a salvage or breaker, who probably doesn't know that thsoe are not stock DSS heel guards.

Oh, I get it. So that item that's for sale isn't a set of heel guards that are normally sold alone and they are normally sold as part of an aftermarket rear set. So that's why they don't fit the stock rear sets.

Thanks.

What's the easiest way to make my heel guards black or any color other than stock aluminum? I've seen all the CF ones but I'm not sure I can convince myself to go the CF route.

Or even a Sharpie pen? Can't hurt...

Paints faster. Sharpie is great for little nicks and scratches but not coating a whole surface. Newer strokes end up taking up a little bit of older ones so getting an even finish would be about impossible. A paint marker might do beter, but spray would be best.

Stock M1000 with DSS is carbon fiber.
