If it's that bad that none of the locals would willingly go there, I'll pass. Call it a sense of self-preservation. Title: Re: Can some kind soul check out a car for me? Post by: Popeye the Sailor on January 07, 2010, 04:24:16 PM This one less likely to get me shot? It's at

Bit of a longish story: It's for me mum, and she's pretty picky. When she was out to visit, it was the only car she liked enough to go for a test drive in, and could see out of (she's quite short). She's always wanted a mercedes, as well as a convertible. There is a low price cap, a request for low mileage, and maybe three colours on earth she would tolerate. Essentially, sort of has her heart set on one of these models, and from my research, the 2001-2002 years are far superior to the previous iteration. All of which culminates into me searching, daily, for a month now for a very specific make, model, and year of a car which must also be automatic and have as many power options as possible, in silver, black, or blue. Old enough to be cheap, but new enough to have low miles. If she could drive a manual, I could just loan her one of the many cars here. Until I can snag one, when she's here, she's trapped in the house, which is near nothing whatsoever. What can I do? it's me mum-if I could find one that fit the criteria within a thousand miles, I'd go buy it and drive it back. Title: Re: Can some kind soul check out a car for me? Yer a good kid Mr Incredible. Title: Re: Can some kind soul check out a car for me? Post by: Speeddog on January 08, 2010, 10:31:26 AM GOOD
Drives fine, rides decently, acceleration good, pretty quiet. Top stows and deploys fine. Heat and AC work fine. There's some room left in the trunk with the top stowed. MEH... Interior is a bit weathered looking for an '01. Paint has numerous scuffs and scratches, ding on rear edge of driver's door and LF fender lip. Front tires and rear tires are not same brand. Ashtray door missing. A bit 'growly' when taking off from a stop, IMO it's just due to being a 4-banger, have not driven one of these before, so no reference frame. BAD The 'Check Engine' light came on at some point during the drive, not sure when as it's blocked from my view by the CC lever. Needed a jump to get it started, battery was low. Gas strut that should hold the hood up is blown. Front 'spoiler' below the bumper is beat, cracked in a couple spots. Driver's side seat control knobs missing, but it can still be adjusted with fiddling. Title: Re: Can some kind soul check out a car for me? I can't thank you enough for looking it over-saved me a flight and all for something I wouldn't have bought. Title: Re: Can some kind soul check out a car for me? Post by: DucofWestwood on January 08, 2010, 06:56:15 PM Baby on the way and you're buying your mom a car. You're a good man.
