6000 members right now. [thumbsup]
wow thats great,I remember when it was 100
I don't remember anything but VS sucking
I wonder how many of these 6000 members are active or have visited the forum lately.
Just thinking aloud ....
I was a Ducati rider sometime in 2004, found a great forum to go to Then I sold the bike and just started rebuilding a Duke. Went back online and thought I found the forum again, then somehow something's amiss, then found this forum :) [clap]
Seems that I missed the exodus, can anyone PM me on any link that tells me what happened when I was away?
Cheers
The summary version --
We were all over at the DML (aka TOB or The Other Board or The Old Board). It was sold to Vertical Scope (VS), the evil corporate Canadians who were ravenously buying up motorcycle forums and littering them with blinking ads, babbling corporate speak and insisting that members pay annual fees to ensure the corporate overlords remained well stocked in maple syrup and some weird form of bacon.
The DMF was built by some of the DML mods and others as an insurance policy in case the Canadians screwed up the DML. It lived unused and in secret for nearly half a year. The day the evil Canadians threw the switch and screwed up the DML, the entire DML moderator core resigned and many of the members moved over here. Some were lost in the shuffle. Some frequent both boards. Some went elsewhere.
The funny version:

Congrats on 6k [thumbsup]
Thanks, Spidey, ... seemed that I missed some action.
Anyway, the real shame for me was that many of the photos in the old forum had broken links, which wouldhave been a wealth of data for monster owners.
I like this fourm. :)

Besides the blinking, seizure-inducing ads, they also completely make the beast with two backsed up anything that wasn't directly related to the forum posts. So all the old photos and the Monster of the Month stuff all got completely hosed.

Hmmm. 6295 members says one stat (total user ids handed out), 5841 says another (searchable members), 6001 members says another.
Good enough for me! [thumbsup]
Totally cool. This place is great. [beer]
Well, I'm a fairly new member of the forum. Glad I could help out. [drink]
Awsome, i love this place come here every day [clap]
God, that Hitler video still cracks me up every time I see it!! My wife came in and wanted to know what was so damn funny!! I told her it was an inside joke, she wouldn't understand. I thought the "original" version where they buy Adolf a VFR Honda instead of a BMW was funny as hell but the VS vs DMF version is even better!! [laugh] [laugh]
Long live DMF! Great job guys!! [clap]
yay [thumbsup]
Reading that VS forum post and watching the Hitler video again.....such classic stuff [laugh]

Don't get me wrong. I love this forum. Nothing better than having a bunch of guys (and gals, too), with the same hobby and interests, BS'ing about bikes and life. Maybe it's the same reason my dad joined the Lion Club or the Rotary Club.
ANYWAY, I just don't want to claim a hollow victory with 6000 members when there are the same 100 guys posting on a daily basis. It's be interesting to find out how many members are actually active and have visited in the past months. I think people might be surprised to see the "real" membership count. Maybe I am just being anal... My job requires me to ask these kind of questions so I can't help but think that way...
Ignore my post if you think I am just pissing on the parade. ;)

LOL. I am a goat_Herder by name only, not by profession.
A nickname my college roommate gave me...
A quick look at the admin logs say that just over 2000 unique users have logged on in the last month.
1500 in the last week
And just under 1000 last 2 days
I'd say that's a pretty active bunch.

Sorry for my ignorance. But when I did click into that link, all I can see are Status, Username, Email, Website, IM stuff, Position, Date Registered, and Posts. There isn't a "Last Active" option for me to sort. Now you don't expect me to click into each member's page to see when they had logged in, do you?
So if you don't mind, please show me how you would do a research in http://ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?action=mlist;sort=realName;start=0 (http://ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?action=mlist;sort=realName;start=0)? Pretty please?
yeah but the stats don't go into the last post.
when you say unique users are you talking IP addresses or user logons? i log on from 2 different computers at least.

If you really want to know, click on each "Member" (over 6K) and find out for yourself. I mean "Your job requires this."
my congratulations and thanks to the mods,
and all of the members (however many of us there are)
for making the DMF what is is...
this place felt like home the day i migrated :)

I'm nowhere near as analytical as you. I just thought it was a fun thing that this place had grown so quickly.
...and there is a ton of info in the memberlist if you click around.
Congrats to all who conceived and built the DMF. Great job guys! Take it from one who knows how much work goes into something like this.

Very true. 6000 unique usernames in 2 years just by the word of mouth is remarkable. And all this was accomplished by just a few guys doing it on the side.
THANKS MODS!!!

Thanks to all those who make this possible! I don't post much but definitely drop in daily for a read. And thanks to the sponsors for supporting the forum. I've done business with a few and it's been a pleasure.

It all started one Sunny day at La Honda ( now called Ducati Day) when some nice fella said "Check this site out, you'll like it". Well, Thanks alot fella! Like a drug I've been hooked ever since. [thumbsup]Thanks
6K wow and counting ... [clap]
Wasn't it was my job to keep count of the milestones?
Then the counter on the top right home page was moved; where is it now?

The counter was a feature of the old theme we were using that caused us so much trouble.
mitts' work on the default theme has cured that but you have to look for the member total. It's in the stats block on the forum page BTW.

Dont really need the total posted; it was amusing to see when DMF was first launched; we all know where the quality lies now so numbers dont matter so much; you can keep us updated on the 1k total increases; nice to see it hit 6k.
