Hi Guys, I'm a newby hope you don't mind answering a quick question
I'm doing an oil change on an m600 1996 model that I just got home and I need to know what the crankcase capacity is, without changing the oil filter, can someone help please? Just less than 3 litres drained out so I put 3 litre back in but the oil light stays up so I'm shutting it down as I don't want to do any damage
The bike has been under a tarp for a few years and I just want to get it going first to assess motor condition, I'll post a story and pics when I get over the intitial "new old bike" stage
I've already found one nest of red backs! and the water in the carbs!
Talk later
Thanks
Sorry, can't help with the question as I am new to ducatis also. But you might want to move this thread to the Tech section, someone can better help you there. an 'introduce yourself' thread would be good also.
roger that
cheers
3 litres in a 600.
it will take a few seconds to get oil pressure, especially if it has been sitting for some time and the filter is empty. 10 or more maybe in that case. you could pull the plugs out and crank it until the light goes out, but you really should unhook the ignition boxes so they don't fire the (not connected) plugs.
or pull the oil pressure switch and see if it pisses oil out. it's a bit more visual at least. holding your thumb over the hole can help until it gets pressure, then your thumb gets blown out of the way and you get covered in oil.
Thanks for the reply, much appreciated
bit late to check now I don't think the neighbours would appreciate the throb of the twin at 11pm
cheers
