Title: Moto 2 behind the fairing
Post by: pennyrobber on January 19, 2010, 12:31:22 PM
Here is a pic from MotoGP.com of the AJR moto 2 bike. I thought it interesting that they are going with a trellis frame.

Cool picture.  The frame is so minimal it looks more like a steering-head bracket rather than a frame!

So.....

Moto2 135kg bike, 125HP, 140lb rider = 3.50 lb/HP

250GP 2-stroke, 100kg bike, 100HP, 140lb rider = 3.60 lb/HP

250GP 2-stroke, 100kg bike, 105HP, 140lb rider = 3.43 lb/HP

Bring back the two stroke, everyone knows that only real race bikes use a two stroke engine

Hmmmzzz, 125 bhp? That's a bit of a disappointment! Street spec 600RR's are making about 120 bhp already!

It sounds like consistent, reliable horsepower was valued more than big numbers.

Rumors floating around the Moto2 paddock suggest that Honda's engineers - normally no slouches when it comes to extracting power from four-stroke engines - emerged from the dyno room carrying not a powerful 600 cc engine, but rather the remains of several engines which had died in the attempt to find that horsepower.

makes me wonder if they are doing 6 motors for the season as well?
