Title: Book of Eli
Post by: metallimonster on January 20, 2010, 08:12:44 AM
Just saw this last weekend and have to say that I enjoyed it about 10 times more than Avatar.  While Avatar was visually stunning it was very vanilla and predictable. Eli has less action but the action that is in it is amazing.  Plus Denzel's acting is way ahead of anyone in Avatar.  Not that Eli isn't visually great because the post-apocolyptic world it is set in is awesome in its own right.

If your looking for some good action and a good storyline I would suggest it.

How religiously linked is the movie? Word has it that the Vatican isn't happy....but what else is new....

I gave it an 8.5. I think the 70's chic could have been played by someone else and Gary Oldman the villain should have been player by Mickey Rouke. I still enjoyed it.  [clap]

Or just not open the thread if you haven't seen it.

i don't see why the vatican would be unhappy with a demon possessing a sweet old lady who subsequently attacks a pregnant lady, that seems like pretty standard hollywood stuff these days.

I think it was more the "angry God that sends his armies to destroy humanity" thing.
