i personally am not, but if you are...check this out.
$500 or $3500 (http://www.audioholics.com/reviews/transports/high-definition-dvd-players-hd-dvd-blu-ray/lexicon-bd-30-blu-ray-oppo-clone/oppo-inside-lexicon-outside-1)
I bought my first last night and am SO happy with it - it's amazing - works amazingly well for streaming, 1gb internal hard drive space for BD Live, ethernet and wifi, DivX compatibility, and of course AWESOME image quality! I highly recommend this unit:
Samsung BD-P 3600

Currently on sale at Best Buy $70 off.
I don't spend money for things like that very often but I really feel that it was money well spent.
I own the Oppo, and it is awesome. Use it for SACD, CD, DVD playback as well.
i bought an inexpensive samsung for netflix streaming and it sucks. It won't play discs quite often. I think I need to take it back. Ugh.

So far this plays everything that I've thrown at it - have you done a firmware on yours?
I work in the video game industry, so I am a bit biased, but I would consider a PS3 if I were in the market for a BlueRay player. You can do all the great stuff like stream netflix, surf the web, play downloaded and brick-and-mortar-retail games, and watch those pretty movies. 1 box, less space, blah blah.
my 2c.

That's probably what I'm going to do. Oh and play the shit out of some Gran Tourismo 5 [laugh]
That's what we did. Only DVD player we have is the PS3. Streaming Netflix is nice...
I agree that the PS3 was worth considering but we had no need for another gaming system and with the nearly $80 cost difference, the end value for a PS3 just wasn't worth it us.

I'll look into it. I'm used to buying decent stuff that works first time through, but this thing was misconfigured when I plugged it in. I actually needed the manual. Shocking!
I used to like my PS3 that I spent $500 on a few years ago......until the disk drive stopped working.
This happened immediately after I cancelled all my premium channels and set up a Netflix account. Cant work the setup disk....grrrrrr.
I hate it when those Best Buy guys, that try to sell extended warrantys, are right....
I'm in the market for a blu-ray
been thinking about the PS3...not sure.
A must for me will be netflix streaming. Can't use it where I live now (shit internet...dial up only), but I don't plan on being here forever, so I want to stream netflix when I move.
I've heard PS3 netflix streaming is kinda a hack? any truth to that?
extended warrantys on electronics are a fantastic way to spend money on something worthless.
the cost of electronics drops so fast the replacement cost is usually less than the warranty cost.
I got a Samsung BD-P1600. Streams pandora, netflix, youtube, blockbuster.
It will also do dts-ma and dolby truhd with 7.1 channels in bitstream mode. The ps3 will only do LPCM in 7.1.
It sounds minor until you hear them back to back. LPCM is non-bitstream, and the difference is noticable.
My $0.02. If you have a decent theater setup, get the purpose built device. I think the P1600 is $150 at bestbuy.

we just started streaming Netflix with the PS3, it works great. Yes, you do need to use a Netflix software disc for the streaming to work, but I understand that later this year Netflix will allow Sony to offer a PS3 update that will eliminate the need for the disc.

The only thing to keep in mind for the BD-1600 is that it does not come with the wifi dongle ($80 component) and it does not include any internal memory (for BDLive features). If neither of those are important to you then its a great unit, but those were the 2 deciding factors for me picking the BD-P 3600 since I didn't' want to have to reroute all of my home network wires and configuration.

How to replace a PS3 blueray drive (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qztw_aUBQhI#normal)
you can find the drive online for less than 100 bucks
I also use a PS3, and it's primarily for Blu Ray movies, I hardly ever play games with it. The PS3 is one of the few players that really has the memory capabilities required for smooth playback. For a while it was really the only real option for someone wanting a quality player. Nowadays there are more than can handle the data properly, but I still feel the PS3 is the best choice. I was also able to successfully link it to a Logitech Harmony universal remote, making it an even better option.

I just used one of these (http://www.schmartstuff.com/ps3ir500.html) to control the PS3 with an RTI remote for a customer and it works great. It even has discrete power commands. No more holding the ps button then having to select- turn system off.
It's funny though how frustrating it can get when you're used to using something one way and then you change tech and suddenly everything is different. The remote control for my Samsung player is taking me a while to get used to with an individual "Menu, Pop Up Menu, Return, and DVD Menu button"....so far I've had a rather sad 1 in 4 chance of hitting the right button each time when it comes to skipping previews when you first load a disk - and that drives me crazy!!!
Sorry for the Hijack, but I would highly recommend the new harmony remotes. I got the Harmony One and it's phenomenal! The mrs likes it because if she cant figure it out, or if she messes something up, the help button walks her through it.....just a thought to ease your remote control woes

Love my Harmony One. Also have it hooked up to the PS3 through the IR-BT transmitter. One remote for the tv, cable, PS3, and sound system/receiver...
I've got the Harmony hooked up to switch between watching tv, movies on the PS3, or music on the AppleTV. Its great how it integrates so easily, and the software allows for great behavior customization of your specific devices.
I'd recommend upon purchasing a BluRay player, just factor in the Harmony remote as well [thumbsup]
