Title: Help identifying mystery part found in driveway after chain/sprocket change Post by: DucHockey on May 29, 2008, 12:33:37 PM Hi All,
I put a new chain and sprockets on my bike (2005 M1000s) and two days later, I found the below part in my driveway. At first I thought it was a washer for the rear axle nut, but it doesn't fit around the rear axle. Is it a washer or spacer for the countershaft sprocket, and if so, does anyone know which one? Or is it just some piece of trash I found in my driveway? In case you can't tell from the picture, it has about a 28mm outside diameter, and is about 1mm thick. I'd appreciate any help that anyone can offer. Thanks, James (http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/dd271/jwalsh037/PC270358.jpg) Title: Re: Help identifying mystery part found in driveway after chain/sprocket change Post by: Slide Panda on May 29, 2008, 12:37:00 PM Looks like a crush washer to me.
Do you have your bikes parts schematics? If not you can get them from Ducati.com I'd take a look at those. I've had my rear wheel off and countershaft sprocket as well (on a '00 900) and never come across a washer like that Title: Re: Help identifying mystery part found in driveway after chain/sprocket change Post by: DucHockey on May 29, 2008, 01:01:47 PM Looks like a crush washer to me. Eh, it'll probably be fine. She doesn't need to know about this one. ;D Thanks, yuu Title: Re: Help identifying mystery part found in driveway after chain/sprocket change Post by: somegirl on May 29, 2008, 01:15:51 PM That's what the internet is for! Bwaaah bwaaah bwaaaahh. Well if after the next time she parks in your drive... there's a little puddle of oil, it won't be a *mystery* leak. Or will it? Well if after the next time she parks in your drive... there's a little puddle of oil, it won't be a *mystery* leak. Or will it? Ummmm... I'd stick that sucker on there. I know it's a bit of a pain, since you'll have to do an oil change again, but having that drain plug back out while she's elsewhere is going to be a bit more of a pain. He can't go admit to screwing up an oil change. Besides, crush washers aren't all *that* necessary... :P Title: Re: Help identifying mystery part found in driveway after chain/sprocket change Post by: Heath on May 30, 2008, 11:45:06 PM haha i've done that before.... the car was fine until the next oil change when I put it back on.
