Title: TPS voltage at 100% throttle
Post by: rule62 on January 25, 2010, 12:39:07 PM
I recently reset the TPS on my '04 620. Butterflies closed = 150 mV. Idle = 434 mv (butterflies at 2.8 degrees assumed, I do not have VTSD to measure).  The bike definitely runs much smoother, especially at idle.

What I'm looking for is the correct mV value at 100% throttle.  I'm trying to determine if my TPS simply slipped out of range or if it is defective.  I figure now that the base and idle values are set, I can then compare my TPS mV at 100% to what the 100% TPS mV value really should be to see if mine is still within spec.

Does anyone know what the TPS mV value at 100% throttle on an '04 620 should be?

Interesting question.

non linear tps is about 4.85 volts.  linear os about 4.15 volts.

are you assuming it was right from the factory?

Thank you Brad.  No assumptions.  Just wanted a baseline to see if I should be ordering a new one or if mine just slipped a little.  Your site really helped me a lot.  Thanks again!

they don't slip, but it was probably set wrong.

Thanks for that info.  The bike was running great for 4 years.  Got caught on a long cold ride in the rain and it began crapping out on me at idle.  Went through the charging system (battery, regulator, plugs, wires, caps) with no luck.  Went through your TPS reset instructions on your site and it seems to have cured the issue.  This all happened months ago.  Now, knowing the voltage at 100% throttle should help me make the decision to buy a new TPS or not.  Once again... Thanks for all of your help.

Where my TPS is at:
150 mV closed
430 mV idle
4.75 V at 100% throttle
I think that's pretty good, not exact... but pretty good.
Thoughts?  Is dialing in that extra 4mV at idle worth the time?

setting the idle mixture is much more important than 4mv.
