Title: Crapcrapcrapcrapcrap Post by: eltristo on January 25, 2010, 03:58:19 PM So.
The wife seems to have gone and gotten herself knocked up. I have no idea how this could have happened, but if you need me, I'll be in Mexico for the next 20 years or so. [added] I feel it should be noted that it is likely that I am at least partially responsible for this crime upon nature. 8) Title: Re: Crapcrapcrapcrapcrap Post by: MadDuck on January 25, 2010, 07:48:54 PM Congratulations! Title: Re: Crapcrapcrapcrapcrap Post by: DRKWNG on January 27, 2010, 09:20:43 PM ^^^ Ouch, that is serious. And seriously not going on my bike ;D Because your bike is going away to fund the baby's room? Title: Re: Crapcrapcrapcrapcrap Post by: MadDuck on January 28, 2010, 06:27:12 AM Because your bike is going away to fund the baby's room? Not to be mean, or anything like that, but the baby stuff is going to end up costing much more than the bike could be sold for so better just keep the bike. Better still, now is the time to get any modding done that might want to be done. Title: Re: Crapcrapcrapcrapcrap Post by: eltristo on January 28, 2010, 06:37:52 AM Because your bike is going away to fund the baby's room? Umm, hell no. The bike is going nowhere but around the admittedly few twisties we have. Not to be mean, or anything like that, but the baby stuff is going to end up costing much more than the bike could be sold for so better just keep the bike. Better still, now is the time to get any modding done that might want to be done. Though, to be fair, I don't see much modding in the future either. Except my brake lines and masters. I should probably get on that... Title: Re: Crapcrapcrapcrapcrap Post by: DRKWNG on January 28, 2010, 04:06:33 PM Except my brake lines and masters. I should probably get on that... Yes you should. ;) Title: Re: Crapcrapcrapcrapcrap Post by: eltristo on January 30, 2010, 09:18:10 AM When did this (http://www.vw.com/vwfeatures/gli/en/us/) happen?

But then again, maybe I should just refer myself back to my own thread about the car market here... Title: Re: Crapcrapcrapcrapcrap Post by: eltristo on January 31, 2010, 02:41:04 PM They also did a fine job of uglifying it. It was actually the first car I went to check out online, but I was quickly deterred.
Title: Re: Crapcrapcrapcrapcrap Post by: teddy037.2 on January 31, 2010, 03:56:09 PM you need a van...
I am soooooo normally anti-honda, but I'd rock this mugen kit all the way to soccer practice! Though it is notably cooler than a standard van, I don't think I could fit the monster in the back, and that has always been the only selling point of those beasties.

I approve of this purchase... did you trade in? Title: Re: Crapcrapcrapcrapcrap Post by: DRKWNG on February 07, 2010, 01:55:37 PM Nice!! How does it drive? Surprised you got it at Cutter; were they able to beat Tony's price?
Any idea what the towing capacity it is? ;) Title: Re: Crapcrapcrapcrapcrap Post by: eltristo on February 07, 2010, 06:09:03 PM Drive is pretty impressive for a diesel. Kicks in when I want it to - it still has the DSG, hence launch control! - but gets 40ish mpg. I've averaged 41.something so far.
Cutter had a non-silver car, and they were willing to meet a price that Tony wasn't, namely MSRP. Amazing how anywhere else MSRP is overpriced, and here it's a low price goal. Either way, I can't wait to get rid of the Cutter license plate frames. I still have the BMW, I didn't even ask them to give me a trade-in price on it since I knew it would be pathetic. I guess I need to sell it now. boo boo boo. Title: Re: Crapcrapcrapcrapcrap Post by: DRKWNG on February 07, 2010, 07:36:02 PM Cutter had a non-silver car, and they were willing to meet a price that Tony wasn't, namely MSRP. Amazing how anywhere else MSRP is overpriced, and here it's a low price goal. Either way, I can't wait to get rid of the Cutter license plate frames. Yea, that is something that I noticed when I was car shopping not long ago. No one was interested in going below MSRP unless you were looking for something very large and gashoggyish. But then I started talking to dealers on the mainland, and going through USAA's car buying service. I now have multiple dealerships advertising offers that are a couple grand below MSRP. So anyhow, what about that towing capacity? ;) Title: Re: Crapcrapcrapcrapcrap Post by: eltristo on February 08, 2010, 06:06:15 AM Yeah, I contacted a dealer in Oakland, and it seemed like we could get a touch below MSRP on the TDI, but not much due to demand. A touch below MSRP + shipping = more than I paid, so, good enough.
And I can't find any info on towing capacity yet. I'll have to check the book. Title: Re: Crapcrapcrapcrapcrap Post by: teddy037.2 on February 08, 2010, 06:17:02 AM ???
what are you going to tow? the beetle? Title: Re: Crapcrapcrapcrapcrap Post by: MadDuck on February 08, 2010, 06:26:50 AM Motorcycle trailer?
Title: Re: Crapcrapcrapcrapcrap Post by: DRKWNG on February 08, 2010, 06:37:17 AM Title: Re: Crapcrapcrapcrapcrap Post by: ducatiz on February 08, 2010, 07:31:10 AM if you are a AAA member, they have a deal to get $500 over invoice plus some other protections.. they find the car for you...
love the TDI tho. I have an 05 Golf and would love to get a new one. Title: Re: Crapcrapcrapcrapcrap Post by: DRKWNG on February 08, 2010, 10:16:49 AM Wonder if AAA has that same deal down here. Hawaii dealers as a whole rarely participate in any sort of discount program.
Title: Re: Crapcrapcrapcrapcrap Post by: eltristo on February 08, 2010, 02:44:41 PM I've used the Costco deal on island before, and it was essentially a free pass to MSRP. The magic letters return. I was not aware of the AAA possibility, but I'm a little late on that one.
