Title: exhaust cylinder pipes a mongrel to get off Post by: Serious Groper on January 25, 2010, 10:23:34 PM Have swapped the air filter, ECU and removed Termi slip on mufflers no sweat.
However the 2 small cylinder pipes do not want to budge no matter how hard i try. Have been going at it for 15 minutes with not an ounce of movement. Any ideas? Title: Re: exhaust cylinder pipes a mongrel to get off Post by: Dannog on January 25, 2010, 10:29:45 PM Heat should do the trick. Of course they are hand to handle when their hot. What until you try to put them on. The rear which goes through the swing arm is a bugger to get our around the shock
Title: Re: exhaust cylinder pipes a mongrel to get off Post by: Serious Groper on January 25, 2010, 10:31:43 PM I did heat them up a little bit with the Benzo but maybe not for long enough. Will give it another shot now and report back.
Title: Re: exhaust cylinder pipes a mongrel to get off Post by: Serious Groper on January 26, 2010, 11:44:20 AM Well i tried and tried and tried. All while dressed in my jocks because the garage was so flipping hot and i was sweating like a dog!
No dice. Managed to move the bottom of the 2 pipes but thought against it seeing as the top one wasn't budging so what was the point in taking 1 off. Might just forget it for the time being. Bugger, just paid $300 for all the stock bits which i now can't install LOL. Title: Re: exhaust cylinder pipes a mongrel to get off Post by: loony888 on January 26, 2010, 10:42:32 PM have you given them a good spray with CRC OR WD40? seeing as the heat from the exhaust and carbon build up is probably the culprit for the stubbornness a good dose of penetrating fluid may help.

Title: Re: exhaust cylinder pipes a mongrel to get off Post by: Serious Groper on January 28, 2010, 11:16:45 AM cheers Loony, i gave the WD40 a good go but it was no dice. Well i actually got the bottom pipe moving with tapping with a rubber mallet but the top pipe is no dice. I'll have another shot with the WD40 over the weekend and hopefully it can eat away some of the grim like you suggested. [thumbsup]
