Belly Pans do actually do anything? :-\

I do quite like the look of a cf belly pan on some Monsters,and also pricey$$$$$
curious how one would look on mine? should i? [evil]
some don't like the look :'(prefer the true naked look.mmmm naked.

my bike temp dropped around ten c when i fitted mine so they do help but i dont know about city work [thumbsup]
they also help keep a lot of road crud off your motor too, some like the look, other's don't...
there's a couple of types, there's a bathtub type one that hugs the cases closely and is very rounded in shape, then there's the chin spoiler type which looks more angular and minimal. i have the chin type and even though it's been on the bike since new, 6 years now there's no damage to it, the gel has some small chips at the front under the cooler but nothing obvious or serious. not sure if they offer any benefit aside from finishing the bottom of the bike aesthetically, but i hadn't ridden without it beforehand.

if you're getting "lip service" while at said brothel and doing sudoko, it can be quite a treat!
seriously, there are "track friendly" types which actually cover the entire bottom of the engine and will catch leaks and half cover types which are good for directing wind over the cases but not much else (well, bling)
for putting on a race track here in the states you HAVE to have a full belly pan for leaks.

i have the half type, the red one in the pic above and while you can do an oil change without removing it, you can't get to the filter screen without taking it off, it's only 4 allen head screws, but i'm converting mine to dzus. the bathtub one below it is ugly, but as ducatiz says, functional if it is sealed as a catch for fluids.

how is it the bike temp could drop in temperature, if the aim of a belly pan (in part) is to streamline, thus diverting air around the engine and not onto it, which you would assume cool it more?
just curious, i still want one ;D
well its simple have a look ,the scoop directs more air along the sump and oil filter and bottom of the head and working like another oil cooler i ran my bike for two years without one so i did notice the difference when i put one on and they tidy up the ugly starter motor , but like i said never did any city driving , my bike stayed around 85-95 c [thumbsup]
