Title: Ditching the digital dash Post by: wingnut on February 01, 2010, 07:52:45 AM Does anyone know of a way to ditch the digital dash on the 1100 to go back to the old needle speedo & tach?

I think Spidey did something similar and basically took the guts out of the digital dash and ran it to a box under the seat, and had a duplicate set of gauges spliced in that was mounted on the dash.

I'm up against "costly" anyway since I broke the lcd on my dash and have to replace the entire thing. If I have to replace it, I'd rather replace it with something I like (like the motogadget). Is doing away with the immobilizer even an option?

It will make the 696/1100 better looking. Old headlight and fairing as well? Title: Re: Ditching the digital dash Post by: wingnut on February 01, 2010, 11:22:20 AM The old headlight was going to be my next move.
Title: Re: Ditching the digital dash Post by: superjohn on February 01, 2010, 12:32:10 PM I think the only way to get rid of the immmobilizer is to replace the fuel injection system as the ECU checks the immobilizer to see if it's ok to work.

Title: Re: Ditching the digital dash Post by: yotogi on February 01, 2010, 02:12:27 PM I don't think that anyone has figured out how to flash the 696/1100 ECU yet. People have just finally figured out how to do it to the older monster ECU so it may take some time.
Once done, you can disable the immobilizer. Now, removing the gauge cluster is perhaps another thing in addition to this so don't think that alone will get you there without being sure first! |
