Title: crg ls mirrors
Post by: jdupont4 on February 09, 2010, 04:59:25 AM
Hey guys (and gals). I just orderred a set of crg ls mirrors. I had a question on mounting them. Is it best to slide the controls inwards and mount them directly to the bar or should i get the bar end adapters?

There are locating pins on the stock bars to keep the switches and master cylinders (on some models) located where they are.  Nothing worse than trying to hit the kill switch only to have the entire switch rotate away from you...

Anyways, onto your question:  You can relocate the holes the pins go into with a drill and some careful measuring.  That's the best way to move the controls.  Some people may advocate breaking the pins off and putting your controls anywhere you want because the switches don't usually move around.   Usually.

If you don't want to do that, then the bar-end adapters are quicker.  As a side-bonus, the bar-end adapters also act as bar end weights (if you don't have any right now).  They're not as heavy as some weights, but they do work to some extent.

motovation has some bar ends that work with the CRG's I believe if you want to go with a little sliders out there as well.

rhinomoto has them as well and it is what i consider
a substantial amount of weight for bar end weight.
Monsterparts.com because Jeff is the best.

I agree with both of the above.

After a small incident the pin on my left side controls was broken and the controls would move, sometimes a lot.

I currently have the CRG adapters that go inside the hollow bar end and give you a place to mount the mirror on the end of the bar.  These weigh almost nothing.  I just bought the motovation bar end weight and sliders and have yet to install them (they are for my clip ons, also not installed yet), but they look great and have some good heft to them, much more than the CRG pieces.  I'd recommend the motovation sliders with CRG mirror mount.
