Phil Harris, captain of the fishing vessel "Cornelia Marie", and star of discovery channels "deadliest catch" passed away yesterday due to complications from a massive stroke he suffered on Jan. 29th. Luckily he was in port at the time of his stroke and not out on the water. Fifty three years old. The show won't be the same without him.
Phillip Morris wont be either. :P
Sadly, with the amount that man smoked, its no surprise. sorry for his family
I was waiting to see how long it took someone to post about his death.
He was my favorite Captain on this show.

I had the same conversation with a friend tonight; not a surprise at all.
Every time you saw him in the wheel house, he was smoking.
Still sad nonetheless.
RIP Captian Phil. :'(
I hope his boys continue fishin'.
May he RIP...is down the one that chugs Red Bulls like water?

didn't know so many doctors rode Ducati's. Seriously, let the man rest in peace. I guess drinking like an idiot shall not be mentioned or being fat and so on and so on right?
To each their own!
Discovery channel will make $10 million dollars off of this guys death. I bet they have an entire episode dedicated to this guy. The kids will be exploited for a while and then discarded.
I wonder if they will show his collapse.

It's the usual reaction in these here parts, like the holier than thou attitude over wearing gear. RIP Captain Phil.
I know, just had to get it off my chest. now I'm going for a smoke before I get cabin fever......

Ok, I'll join you. let me get on my bike wearing nothing but underwear, while smoking and holding my beer. I do have to remember by beer's coozy, you know, for protection.
RIP
think they'll do a burial at sea? I think thats what I would want if I spent my entire life as a fisherman.

He seemed a great guy ..sure he smoked too much and his diet was crap but his job and responsibility was extremely stressful ...I am sad for his family and crewmates. PHIL RIP.

RIP
I remember watching a episode a year or two ago when the Doctors told him he was a ticking time bomb and he had to stop smoking, starting eating better, lay off the long work hours and stressful lifestyle.
His friend proved he was more than capable of running the ship with out him but I guess he loved what he did to much to give it up... Life is about living it... and living it can cause you to die before your time.
Quote'A guy got hurt on the boat and I took his place and I made $135,000 in a month. "I was 17 years old and when I came home, I bought a house, a Corvette, and two hookers. I was having a good time!"
Have a butt for me Phil. [thumbsup]
life is about sliding in sideways to your grave while having enjoyed the ride! He enjoyed and loved what he did. No matter the cause of his death he LIVED and was passionate (from what I could see on the episodes). Here's a beer in your honor [beer]

The vodka marinade is already in place.
I saw him a couple years ago at the W Hotel in Seattle when I was there for a work trip.
I didn't want to be "that guy", so I didn't say hello or get pics with him. :-\
Kinda wish I would have.
RIP Capt. Phil.
