Title: Seat's had it Post by: IZ on February 11, 2010, 06:25:50 PM One rip a few months ago and another in the past week. :-\
I wonder how many on/offs it's had in 7 years? Nearly 73,000 miles. Looks like it's time for a new saddle. Hmmm..maybe a DP gel seat? Anyone just have their seat refurbished? If so, a gel seat is a Baaaaaaaad idea. When I lived in NM, the sun got that gel so friggen hot it melted my man peaches everytime i rode the bike.
Title: Re: Seat's had it Post by: JEFF_H on February 13, 2010, 07:46:27 AM the new comfort seat from DP is a new mfr and doesnt look to have the gel padding in it like the previous version.
looks like the 696 seat with the suede-looking covering on it. (http://www.monsterparts.com/mm5/graphics/00000001/96787702B-F_large.jpg) clark in our shop changed to the new seat to see if he can park it outside all day at work without cooking his eggs on the ride home 8) Title: Re: Seat's had it Post by: ducducgooseme on February 13, 2010, 09:01:10 AM oooh dat is purty!!

I have a gel seat and it's seen some hot days (not Az, but high 90s). I got a bikini cover that does a great job. It seems to only need the shade to keep the gel cool and it is very comfy. w/o the cover it cooks the bacon.Title: Re: Seat's had it Post by: muskrat on February 13, 2010, 03:18:29 PM careful with that seat, it will roast nuts in the summer

[cheeky] hey iz_az... i have a spare seat for my s2r1k as well. replaced it with the dp gel seat that came off my old 620, so i know they are compatible. wasnt really planning to sell it, but if you are in need, and dont want Nakid to find you......drop me a pm. 8) Title: Re: Seat's had it Post by: jerryz on February 13, 2010, 07:19:05 PM I was going to have my S4 seat reshaped and gel pads inserted ...but this thread has put me off as In Thailand it gets to over 100f every day.
I will just have the seat cut and reshaped with new foam and a new cover as the standard shape is very painful on very long rides. Title: Re: Seat's had it Post by: Punx Clever on February 14, 2010, 12:05:44 PM I say take it to a custom upholstery shop. Doesn't look like anyone does custom seats on their monsters... would make it very unique.
But having a spare seat wouldn't be bad either. I'm almost to the point where I can have a full rat-rod body and seat setup in addition to a more traditional look on my s2r |
