Title: Need tach options for a 99 750 carb
Post by: orlandofast1 on February 12, 2010, 09:27:53 AM
I have to have a tach. Done the search. Like the SPA (little pricey) Also considering the Veypor. I would however like to find something stock looking. Any ideas?

I was looking at the possibility of ditching the stock cluster and going with that Koso unit.  I can't decide if I like it or hate it though.  Dimming it at night would be a necessity.  I think it's equal parts cool and "ricer".

The other I was looking at was going with a Cyberdyne digital gauge (3 3/8"):

or their mini-tach (2 1/16"):

One of the reasons your bike came out of the factory without a tach is it really does not need one.  The engine runs out of oomph much before red line and makes power pretty low down.  You might consider riding without one for w while, then deciding.  Just sayin'.  If I were to buy a tach for your bike it would be either an SPA that will replace both your tach and speedo in the OEM cluster.

I had this same issue.  I ended up scoring a really nice Ducati Performance carbon fiber speedo & tach cluster with harness.  Its all plug and play.  I really wanted a tach too!  Found mine on ebay.de.  Not much luck on the .ca or .com sites.  I was also looking to keep the OEM look, so never bothered with the aftermarket stuff.

Good luck
