Title: Famous locals you almost hit Post by: jc2ducati on February 13, 2010, 07:53:12 AM This is pretty funny, so i had to share.
On the way to the Moscone, I came face to face with this local guy, i think. http://www.sfbos.org/index.aspx?page=2105 (http://www.sfbos.org/index.aspx?page=2105) He's the board of supervisors president. It sure looked like him, though he had on a bike helmet, short dark wool overcoat, and suit maybe. He was riding a bicycle in between backed up cars going against their flow and traversing 8th. I was moving around some backed up cars at the time to merge onto 8th. His eyes bugged out probably more from being caught in the wrong lane than in any imminent danger, as i was going slowly! Title: Re: Famous locals you almost hit Post by: Spidey on February 13, 2010, 08:15:49 AM Feel free to hit him next time. And if given the chance, if you can get him, Chris Daly and David Campos in the three-for-one, that'd be awesome.
Thanks, A local taxpayer. Title: Re: Famous locals you almost hit Post by: Princess on February 13, 2010, 04:07:01 PM I'm waiting for the... "I almost mowed Robin Williams down..." reply.

Hmm you'd probably need one of the larger Harleys or a Gold Wing to pull that off, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't try!! Actually, I'll be aiming for Elsbernd and our empty suit mayor first. What did he do that has ya all up in arms? Got a link? Title: Re: Famous locals you almost hit Post by: desmoquattro on February 17, 2010, 09:00:22 AM What did he do that has ya all up in arms? Got a link? I try not to link to him. My problems have to do with him being a puppet of real estate interests, and an opponent of district elections. Title: Re: Famous locals you almost hit Post by: Spidey on February 17, 2010, 09:09:49 AM District elections have both pluses and minuses. Right now, I'm thinkin' they are pretty much donkey balls. They reward the lunatic fringe (which in SF is pretty f'n lunatic) and are at least party responsible for the nightmare budget we have.
Title: Re: Famous locals you almost hit Post by: desmoquattro on February 17, 2010, 09:23:05 AM District elections have both pluses and minuses. Right now, I'm thinkin' they are pretty much donkey balls. They reward the lunatic fringe (which in SF is pretty f'n lunatic) and are at least party responsible for the nightmare budget we have. And city-wide elections reward the moneyed interests who also helped grow the city budget and decimated the city's (and state's) ability to raise revenue. You might blow a gasket on this, but I trust my neighbor Chris Daly far more than I trust someone who had to raise $750k from corporate interests to buy their seat in a city-wide race. BTW - There are some who might call you the lunatic fringe ;D Title: Re: Famous locals you almost hit Post by: Spidey on February 17, 2010, 10:28:12 AM I wrote a big ole long thing, but deleted it. I don't talk politics when people start using phrases like "corporate interests", "moneyed interests" or "puppet of real estate interests" any more than I do with those who talk about "secular progressives" or "the military industrial complex." Those are political identifiers people use to give others a shortcut to determining the speakers' politics. They're not substantive words. Besides, those "monied interests" you're talking about--at least in SF--are generally labor unions, not big corporations.
P.S. Chris Daley is not your neighbor. He lives in Fairfield and if you don't like it, he may call you an asshole. Title: Re: Famous locals you almost hit Post by: desmoquattro on February 17, 2010, 10:46:30 AM I deleted a similar long post...when I remembered that this isn't a politics thread ;D
Of course, there are some other famous local people I'd like to almost hit: Gary Delagnes (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gary_Delagnes) Our Next Governor (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jerry_Brown) Don Johnson (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Don_Johnson), for putting out that awful music video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ULI5kolBpAk#normal). P.S. Chris Daley is not your neighbor. He lives in Fairfield and if you don't like it, he may call you an asshole. He was my neighbor until his wife gave him an ultimatum to be closer to family and to get away from the constant verbal attacks he gets from the paper here. And when it comes down to it, he may indeed call you an asshole. That's a whole lot better than voting to make it easier to evict you. Or tear down your house to build high-end condos. You're quite the apologist for the man. Title: Re: Famous locals you almost hit Post by: Drunken Monkey on February 17, 2010, 11:34:04 AM Ahem. Enough with the politics.
Title: Re: Famous locals you almost hit Post by: desmoquattro on February 17, 2010, 11:41:36 AM Well, well. You're quite the apologist for the man. Talk about meaningless, loaded terms...kettle, meet pot. I'm just someone who's sick and tired of seeing him bashed. I know Chris. He's helped out people on my block more than once. Title: Re: Famous locals you almost hit Post by: desmoquattro on February 17, 2010, 11:41:50 AM Ahem. Enough with the politics. Nuff said. I'll make sure you're even more sick of hearing the guy bashed. ;D BTW, here's a local (who is now famous b/c of this vid) who did get hit. It's too bad they both can't lose the fight. I wonder if that video resulted in a battery charge on either of 'em? Title: Re: Famous locals you almost hit Post by: Spidey on February 17, 2010, 01:33:12 PM Dunno re the charges, but I'm always happy to see the guy who throws the first punch get his ass kicked. From what I gather from some googling (so don't rely on ANY of this), the white guy is batshit crazy and aggressive and the black guy mighta been drunk or high. Cops took the black guy to the hospital and the white guy in for mental eval. Apparently, while the fight was going on, some chick (maybe the chick filming?) took/stole the white guy's bag. Gotta love public transportation. [roll] and, i am guessing that the online urban dictionary needs to update the definition of "i'll put my foot up yo ass" to mean "i will hit your fist with my face ... repeatedly" Title: Re: Famous locals you almost hit Post by: Drunken Monkey on February 18, 2010, 02:01:40 PM but we violated the "Talk about politics and you will have your junk cut off and displayed on the city gates as a warning" rule. Speaking of which, both of you need to stop by the DMF nurse's office to get your junk cut off. As you can see we're not complete barbarians, but rules is rules. ;D Title: Re: Famous locals you almost hit Post by: TCK! on February 19, 2010, 07:34:53 AM FYI, that crazy old mofo white guy is the same one that got tazed at an A's game last year, i believe... I'm not sure what is more painful getting tazed or getting a good ol' fashion beat down with a baton. Last time I was somewhat involved in a situation at a Raiders game the Blue Meanies came in with batons a flying and started cracking skulls. Luckily for me I didn't get to see the business end of the batons. My associate on the other hand got a thorough beat down, hand cuffed and dragged up stairs while his head bounced on the steps. I think personally, if they gave me a choice, I'd go for getting tazed. |
