I'd love to hear your thoughts!
While I appreciate the versatility of the Hyper, I quite dislike the style of those.
Definitely the Monster.
i agree it comes down to styling. the monster just looks better.
..free? Both!
..only one? hyper..
..has to replace my s4rs? neither..

What he said.
As i have two monsters it would be the hyper but its not a veratile bike due to its tiny fuel range but it is fun to ride.Sort of meag bar hopper on steroids.
I voted for the Monster but that's just because the Hyper is too tall for me. But since I just bought a 696 can I have the Hyper for free?
I think I need to change my vote. :P
The Hyper 796 has a lower seat . . . perhaps you want to change your vote ;D
Both bikes have me looking elsewhere. Not interested in either, especially not the new Monsters. Just not my bag man.
Hyper, free or not. No contest. ;)
Definitely the 696 for me.
For free Hyper, it would complement my Monster nicely.
But looking at both of them side by side, I'd ride the Monster every time.
If some of you guys rode a hyper you might change your mind. And with the cal cycleworks tank the 796 Hyper should be good for over 300 miles per tank.

thats amazing! I struggle to get over 80 miles per tank.. :(
I'd take the Monster. They Hyper is cool but just not the right bike for me. I sit way too high to feel comfortable.
Free, and only a choice between the two, I'd take the HM796. That may change if a used, previous generation monster were thrown in as an option.
Monster. The Hyper 796 is cool and has a much better seat than most motards but has a small tank and probably ain't great on long freeway jaunts. The Monster is a little more versatile. But if I was going to get a second bike....
Scott
Well I've got a Monster that I don't plan to replace until it stops going. So hyper for me. Also the seat to tank junction on a 696 is, ahem, disagreeable to my build.
Hyper...hands down. [thumbsup]

Gross. Neither are good for freeway jaunts.

Already got a Monster, think I would go for the Hyper kind of like the idea of the whole urban/city attack thing. Was torn between a Hyper and a Monster when I bought mine so they still spark my curiosity. Though I have no idea what I would use it for to much for the city, to upright for the mountains. :-\
hyper.
The 696 smashes my nuts just sitting on it. Can only imagine what would happen if i really needed my brakes.
Been on a superbike before? The 696 is tame and gentle on the potatoes in comparison.
Hyper....
and boobies ;D

Nope... but one day when i get an 848... i learn to deal with it :p
Monster, purely for range.
Hyper if I didn't care about going far, but want to have a helluva lot of fun doing it.
Where I live the gas stations are 20+ miles apart... the short range of a Hyper means I'd get a lot of walking exercise. Work is a nearly 50-mile round trip, and there are no gas stops between Stevenson, WA and Bingen, WA.
If CA-cycleworks makes an extended tank for the HM that brings the range up to 300 miles, then HM, hands down. Let the hooliganry commence! [evil]
Hyper-then when the 10' multi come out I will have a 3-some.
already have a better monster. :)
Hyper but get the 1100.
I'd go with the Hyper for two reason - 1) we already have a Monster, and 2) I think the Hyper would be a cool commuter/hooligan/play bike. I would also definitely get the larger Ca-Cycleworks tank for it.
Now, if I had the choice between Hypers, I'd have to go with an 1100S. ;D
