Title: Re: Ducati in the Rockies 2010 Post by: Bick on February 15, 2010, 07:53:22 AM wooooo hoooo! im comin nikkid this year! Please tell me that means you are bringing the Monster and not your lack of protective attire. Title: Re: Ducati in the Rockies 2010 Post by: Punx Clever on February 15, 2010, 08:06:46 AM I have always had a blast at DiTR, gonna do my best to come again this year... maybe not riding though. Hard to move a bike from florida to CO without the navy getting suspicious.
Title: Re: Ducati in the Rockies 2010 Post by: Cloner on February 15, 2010, 08:42:20 AM wooooo hoooo! im comin nikkid this year! I was coming until I read this. DDGM Nekkid? I'm OUT!! However, if anyone can talk DDGM into appearing in at least a pair of shorts I think I might be able to attend the event this year. Heck, maybe I'll just make it a point to ride in front of DDGM and then I won't care what he's wearing. 8) Yeah. That's the ticket! He used to hang out like that all the time, back when he worked in a different industry. I think it'd be cool to see some of his excellent paint work in person.
I'm really going to try to get to Ouray this year. It's on the weekend of my anniversary (August 7th), but since I was a good little boy and stayed home last year maybe I'll get Papal dispensation to attend this year. That, and I've sent her to England TWICE in the last calendar year. Of course, I'm already using that for leverage for this year's racing efforts...so no promises. I'd really like to meet a few of you, though. I've never hung with Bonfy, Bick, Punxclever, Randimus Maximus, or even Gloria's ever present sidekick Lance. And surely Goduc will make an appearance, won't he. I haven't ridden with him since early last year. I'll start working on the wife as soon as I finish paying for the fork upgrade, new carb and intake, and cables for the Harley racebike. [thumbsup] Title: Re: Ducati in the Rockies 2010 Post by: Duck-Stew on February 16, 2010, 06:29:02 AM I've said I was coming to the past however-many of these there were.

I don't think it's possible to talk about DiTR without talking about rubber, whips, and our favorite gargoyle... and seeing as it is a Ducati Rally of sorts... well, I just don't feel like it fits in NMC. ;D Cloner: I really wish I had made it down to ABQ for some weekend riding at some point, just didn't work out. Well, that and being able to ride Ouray all summer long each weekend... Title: Re: Ducati in the Rockies 2010 Post by: Punx Clever on February 18, 2010, 09:12:26 AM Lance, can you confirm that you will be attending?
Title: Re: Ducati in the Rockies 2010 Post by: bonfy on February 19, 2010, 08:40:33 PM Thanks for asking, Punx! Lance is indisposed for reasons I won't go into. Okay, actually he's busy pitching a ROYAL fit about the fact that he will only be in Ouray if I am there. He wouldn't hesitate to hitch a ride with one of the local hooligans and go without me. The job situation is undefined so that is adding an element of suspense, but Ducati in The Rockies is the high point of my riding year so I jump through hoops to make it. This year won't be any different. See ya there! Can't wait! Lance will bungee-corded to the beer tray of my MONSTER, as always...
Title: Re: Ducati in the Rockies 2010 Post by: 10/10ths on February 20, 2010, 04:01:35 AM I'll go if DucPainter goes. [beer]

Just ship the bike to my house and I'll make sure it's well cared for in anticipation of your arrival for DITR! Surely you won't mind riding from Albuquerque to Ouray for the event? It's a nice ride!! (if the bike is still running and in one piece when you come to get it.......I'm just sayin') Title: Re: Ducati in the Rockies 2010 Post by: RED on March 03, 2010, 12:40:51 PM Teddy, fly into L.A., rent one, ride out. I won't know if ill be in CO till this spring. Twin Peaks holds the room rate and the block of rooms until July 1. After that, any available rooms go back to the public rate. It is best to book as early as possible, as Ouray is a very small town and hotels do fill up. If all the rooms are booked, start making friends. There is always someone that is looking to split a room. But seriously, there are a LOT of curisers and big iron out and about over the whole san juan skyway throughout the riding season. As for this red leather thing... did you FINALLY get new leathers bonfy? If so, be sure to get some rash on the same spot as your old pants... that way I have an excuse for staring. Too funny, RED and Punx! Nope, no new red leatjhers for Bonfy. My black ones have seen more asphalt than Jorge's. I've finally got them broke in, can't trade them out yet. They have many miles left. Besides, me in pair of red leathers would tempt the riding gods beyond their limits. I always try to imagine how ridiculous I will look to the paramedics and passing traffic when I am tempted to leave my comfort zone and sport some really outrageous gear. I'll save that for the hot-tub. Now, you two guys are welcome to pimp it out with the santa clause suits. [thumbsup] You'll do it justice! Can't wait for Ouray!! Title: Re: Ducati in the Rockies 2010 Post by: Punx Clever on March 12, 2010, 04:55:03 PM You know as well as I do that Ouray is my annual "make sure the gear works" event. But for that price we got free news that a bear had eaten a women up the street which sparked a couple of conversations down at the bar. And got to watch a deer just outside my bathroom window. Watch out for the hot water in the rooms though. JEEEEEEPERS it comes on without notice!! Food fer two wasn't cheap either. Hey, it is what it is and I had one freakin blast doing it even though I couldn't bring the bike. I enjoyed the prose and banter with the group at happy hour. Guidelines for Ducati in the Rockies 2010: 1. Ducati in the Rockies (DitR), it’s organizers or participants in no way condone drinking and driving, whether it be on a motorcycle, a car or a lawn mower. Period! If you have been drinking, you are drunk or under the influence of any substance, don’t ride or drive, anything. 2. DitR, it’s organizers or participants are not responsible for anything, ever! This is, as always, RIDE AT YOUR OWN RISK. Riding a motorcycle is dangerous, everyone knows it. You knew what you were getting yourself into when you got into this hobby and there is no way this group made you do anything that you did not want to do. 3. As usual, DitR is anticipating people from all over the USA to come and ride some of the most beautiful roads in the country. Many will be riding these roads for the first time. Make an effort to meet others, take names and phone numbers. Some of the DitR rides are in the most beautiful places, but they will also have some pretty crappy cell phone coverage. Here are some other helpful hints. A. Don’t ride by yourself, there is no need to. B. Use the “Buddy System”, that way if you break down, run out of gas, fall behind, wreck (hope not) or whatever, you won’t be alone. C. Look out for each other, we are all friends for Pete’s Sakes! D. Maybe the most important, Ride You Own Damn Ride! Take the time to find people with a similar riding cadence, and then ride with them. 4. Don’t forget your rain suit. I've never even been to Yosemite (I know, shame on me) so this would be a good opportunity to rectify that. I'm still waiting for my monster to show up though. Once I have the bike, I'll look into planning something. Title: Re: Ducati in the Rockies 2010 Post by: KRJ on July 18, 2010, 04:33:54 PM Yeah, but Nothing beats riding in Colorado, or DiTR... Stumbled across a great deal on a new (to me) car and had to jump on it. Unfortunately, the cost of getting it home pretty much drained my Ouray fund. I know what your thinking, Ouray is only once a year and cars are everywhere. Picked this one up thru a dealer contact and purchased it for less than wholesale so I couldn't pass it up. Title: Re: Ducati in the Rockies 2010 Post by: Duck-Stew on July 19, 2010, 02:56:39 PM Bummer Dude... I was looking forward to getting you drunkled & hangin' out...

If that happens, I'll have the cash, and plenty of time to make the trip! Keeping my fingers crossed. Maybe I could thy the old "If everyone donated $1" trick. Worked so well for the guy with the engagement ring! [laugh] Title: Re: Ducati in the Rockies 2010 Post by: Scooter Montgomery on July 20, 2010, 08:16:29 AM DAMN! Had a mother and daughter look at it tonight (drove up in a Volvo) apparently everyone in their family drives a Volvo, and this will be the daughter's car. Will know in the morning if it's a done deal. Also have some guy that tried to buy it out from under them tonight (low ball offer) when I said I would honor my promise to hold it till tomorrow, he seemed relieved and wants to know if they take it or not. I think he may have been testing me to see if I was an honest seller. So, two strong leads, and plenty of other lookers. *Fingers crossed* Title: Re: Ducati in the Rockies 2010 Post by: ZLTFUL on July 28, 2010, 09:32:55 AM The Rev and the Z...this could be ugly...ugly but make the beast with two backsin' fun! And only 3 run-ins with law enforcement for me for the weekend...

After numerous run-ins with state troopers in Colorado several years ago, I swore I would never step foot in that state again. So far, so good. Colorado is beautiful. But those state troopers have a field day when they see out-of-state plates. I had a state trooper follow me for about 20 minutes coming down a mountain pass (I was driving a car with California plates). I was going a couple ticks UNDER the speed limit. Well, after 20 minutes, he finally thought of something he could pull me over for, and his lights lit up. I pulled over. He comes up to me and says, "do you know why I pulled you over?". I said "I have no idea, but I can't wait to hear it." Officer: "Well, did you see that police vehicle we passed about a quarter mile back on the side of the road with its lights flashing?" Me: "Yeah...why?" Officer: "Well, the state law is that you are required to change into the next lane as you pass a stopped emergency vehicle, to give them extra room." Me: "And how was I supposed to know that?" Title: Re: Ducati in the Rockies 2010 Post by: ducpainter on August 11, 2010, 03:39:49 PM Most definitely. Colorado is beautiful.
