I so want this.... no batteries... just stores the juice for boost.
That's pretty freakin' cool. Up to 160 additional hp on demand, stored in a flywheel.
the evolution of KERS?
pretty cool if it trickles down to production
Awesome! [thumbsup]

you don't get excited about much...
do you? ;D
Ive been hearing about this thing all week. Its very cool but I don't think they'll be allowed to race it. It's not feasible in its current configuration for street use as the brakes will never get used enough to supply power to the generator. Besides, Ferdinand Porsche's first car was a hybrid.
Seems like a 40,000 rpm flywheel generator could have some maintenance issues of its own for the street, not to mention when you get in an accident and the thing grenades and kills 2 people 1/4 mile away.

Aren't they racing it in it's own series? I thought I read they were running it as an exhibition series in support of something so they can test the technology for development of a better system later.
Its headed to the Nürburgring for the 24 hours on the Nordschleife. They say as a "racing lab" but if it does well people will pregnant dog.

The switches are for the hydraulics so you can get your three wheel motion on.
