Title: Water in the air intake Post by: Vinnnn on February 15, 2010, 09:42:48 PM I know how all of you parents feel when your kids continually disappoint you..
Installed the new r/r unit (one million thankyous to everyone who helped!), new battery, rewiring, etc. Also did an acid cleanup using the bicard soda method suggested by mmick, which again worked brilliantly. After doing all of this I start the engine 3 or 4 times and it works perfectly. I give the bike a victory scrub, hose it down, andd nothing. Wont kick over at all. The starter motor spins, but it doesnt start. It backfires though.. It spurted fire about a foot out of the right exhaust and made a noise so loud that I can still taste petrol. What I think has happened is when I popped up the fuel tank and gave the underside a spray (to clean off the acid) I have gotten water in the air intake. Any ideas on what I should do? Also if you think you got water in the air intake remove the air filter and dry it. remove the spark plugs and check for water on them and crank the engine over for a while to expell any water. :D Title: Re: Water in the air intake Post by: rendang on February 16, 2010, 12:18:11 AM Always really carefull when I wash mine, put some plastic bags over the instruments, a plastic cap over the ignition and keep the rinse spray to an absolute minimum. I can imagine your frustration atm, but one by one, you get the problems solved, then you really appreciate the good times.
