Post by: lwszabo on February 18, 2010, 01:30:41 PM
Red 2005 M1000. the bike has 7000 miles, all services up to date with paperwork to prove it. The bike has the following upgrades;  speed products slip ons, powercommander III with custom dyno tune, ducati performance comfort seat, bar end mirrors, Paulimoto vented clutch cover, EVR pressure plate. The tires are in great shape. it dont look like it has a mark, scratch dent anywhere. I can get it for $6000

Is it the "S" model with adjustable suspension?  I think all 2005 M1000's might have been "S" models.  It sounds like an pretty good deal.  You don't see M1000's for sale that often.  They didn't seem to sell as well as the S2R1000's that followed.  The PCIII and slip ons would be a big plus for me because you are ready to ride already.  I don't even like riding stock bikes anymore.  It's always a disappointment.

i *THINK* you could get it S or Non-S. The bike is listed as M1000. The bike has seat cowl and front headlight fairing, but does not have carbon fiber rear frame side covers.....I guess its Non-S but not 100% sure.

For a low-mile 1k with documented up-to-date service, I'd say it's a touch high, but not unreasonable, especially if it does have an adjustable suspension.

My $.02   [popcorn]

great price, great bike, don't let that slip through your fingers because people from around the country thinks it's too high  [roll]
to those that think it's too much, ask them to show you some other examples of better priced M1000's available today.

I was all set to leave at 11 am this morning and get it....and I just could not make myself do it. I have always felt the M1000 was the monster. It is dss, low mount exhaust, classic shape and it red. But i could no go???!!! I dont look at the pictures the same way as when I looked at my M800 dark...I dont get it. I had a s2r 1000 and it never really excited me the way the m800 did....

The bad thing is I know it is1 I just dont want to part with the cash. I need a stress reliever and motorcycles are it, they are the only thing that lets me relese stress. My wife even says I need something to relieve my stress! I have 2 bikes thay I like very much right now I am looking at; this M1000 and a 99 sv650 suzuki (I know) I can get the sv muuuuuch cheaper than the Ducati, but the sv is a bike, I ride it clean it, and put away. I used to pull my ducati outside park it in the driveway and sit on my front porch just to look at it. I wish it was easier to blow cash.

I don't get it.  If you loved the M800 you will love the M1000.  It looks just like the M800, but has more power, adjustable suspension, and an aluminum swingarm.  It is the pinnacle of DSS Monsters.  Take a test ride and pull the trigger if you like it.  Is it the red color?  Maybe you just prefer the dark look.  In that case get a black M1000S and rub the shine off.

BTW, almost all 2005 M1000's were M1000S.  The only ones that weren't were the M1000 Chromo's which came without the adjustable suspension and aluminum swingarm.  I had read this several times before, but just looked it up to be sure.

"For 2005, the 1000S i.e. model is essentially unchanged, but will be designated just M1000S, as the small "i.e." has been dropped. Cost remains the same at $10,995, but the 2005 models will be available in red or black (the frame will match the tank) with black wheels. Each comes standard with a color-coordinated rear-seat cover. The Monster 1000 Chromo is a limited edition with a chrome tank and black wheels and is the only M1000 offered in the United States for 2005. "

You're right about the SV.  I had an 01, it was a good bike but just didn't move me like a duc.  I know I didn't spend nearly this amount of time on SVrider (except for the cool bike thread) or nearly this amount of money on mods.
