Title: Re: Anybody doing anything exciting this weekend? Post by: INFIDEL on February 19, 2010, 04:28:05 PM I was thinking a nap on Saturday sounded exciting.

insured Lili . . . Might just ride tomorrow. [moto] Title: Re: Anybody doing anything exciting this weekend? Post by: duc_fan on February 20, 2010, 09:27:34 PM Wish I had been out riding today, but I've been caring for a fiancee who's recovering from a tonsillectomy. :P Seriously. Not. Fun.
However, it wasn't all bad... she did let me take her Saturn Sky out for a top-down cruise today. Not as cool as riding the Duc, but still more fun than a fully enclosed cage, and it was GREAT to be out in the sun. Title: Re: Anybody doing anything exciting this weekend? Title: Re: Anybody doing anything exciting this weekend? Post by: duc_fan on February 22, 2010, 01:51:55 PM Man, on my way to work from the fiancee's house in Sandy, I almost stopped in Stevenson to switch from the cage to the Duc... then looked at the thermometer. 33 degrees! :o Most of me does fine riding in the cold, but I kinda need my hands to function longer than 10 minutes if I want to make it to Bingen from Stevenson. I wonder if the alternator on an SS can handle a pair of heated gloves?

I wonder if the alternator on an SS can handle a pair of heated gloves? Most Ducs have a wire pre split out for after market heated items. At least it is in the wiring diagrams. Title: Re: Anybody doing anything exciting this weekend? Post by: Bendy on February 23, 2010, 03:36:29 PM Hm, I'm not having any luck finding a spare accessory lead in the schematic for an '01 SS, or any suitable fuses to rob from. You may have to settle for a fused harness to run off the battery, unless my service manual has the dumb. It should have enough juice, though. I doubt gloves draw any more wattage than an extra lightbulb would, and since we share the same power plant, I assume your bike has the same 3 phase nuclear reactor of an alternator. I bet you could squeeze a heated jacket in, too, but that'd have to be getting close to the maximum.
