Title: Zip-ties are the greatest!
Post by: Mr Earl on February 20, 2010, 03:54:00 PM
Working on a valve adjustment and came to the point of needing to hold the valve up while installing a new closer shim.  The valve would drop about 1/8" and hit the piston (TDC), but that was too far to let the closer move past the circlip groove.  I've dealt with this before by using tape-wrapped hemostats to hold the valve up, but that's a PITA and doesn't work real well.  Thought about the rope trick, and then hit upon the idea of using a zip-tie.  Sure enough, you can insert a zip-tie through the plug hole and position the clip end so that there's NO valve movement.

BTW, my first time pulling the belts for valve adjustment.  Very nice.

So, when are you running for Vice President?

For the record, I am not anti Gore.  I just couldn't resist.

If Incredible's telling the truth, he's a VERY wealthy man!
One of my neighbors invented the envelope with the little window in it for the address and he's the richest guy in my area. You ought to see his "summer home", looks more like a hotel, or castle.

really? considering that window envelopes were invented in 1901 in Illinois, your neighbor must be pretty old...  [roll]

To be honest, I don't even know the guys name. He's certainly nice enough though. Invited all the neighbors to a "house warming party" and offered to open the gates & let me take Pics of my Aprilia inside.
