One of the forums I've posted on for years (http://www.metalmeet.org/ (http://www.metalmeet.org/)) ended up crashing last week. No backups for 3.5 years. Tens of thousands of great posts and images of projects lost.
Out of curiosity, has anyone verified that the backups work (site/database) for the DMF and/or tried a restore on a backup server to make sure it works? I'd had to see the same loss of great content, user profiles, etc here.
Remember this once happened at the DML and it was weeks of pain while things were being rebuilt.
I'm sure it has been addressed here -- but it can't hurt to ask again.
Keep up the great work guys!

We have an auto backup that Daryl set up.
As far as verification of data....I believe he tested it, but I'll check with him and make certain.
Thanks Mark.

I setup a cron that does daily, weekly and monthly backups and stores them for a set amount of time. I have tested the SQL and it is exactly as it should be.
As for the site, we have tarballs of the entire site (the files that makeup the forum), so all is good in DMF land :)

Thanks for confirming what I thought Daryl...part of my mind is still there. ;)
