Title: Anodizing Triple Clamps. Post by: corey on February 22, 2010, 09:34:08 AM Will anodizing a stock triple clamp change the measurements on the fork tube holes at all?
Will the process damage them at all? Title: Re: Anodizing Triple Clamps. Not enough to matter. youd need a fine intrustment to measure the difference. process will not damage it. If you do a color anodizing, it doenst change much. if you do a hard anodizing, it will harden the surface. I think hard anodizing adds a thicker layer than regular does. either way you can ask the guy to mask off the inside fork leg so it isnt anodizined. Title: Re: Anodizing Triple Clamps. No it won't damage them. In fact it'll make the exterior a little harder. All anodized aluminum is harder than un treated - but there's a process 'hard anodizing' that takes it a step further. But, the only finish color for true hard ano is a dark grey. Look at aluminum pots from Calphalon for a color reference But, the stockers a cast aluminum, not billet. You can anodize cast parts - but they have a nasty habit of coming up blotchy. The slight changes from area to area in cast parts take up the dye at different rates, which can cause the blotchy look. If you want toe most consistent color, you're better off with paint or PC Title: Re: Anodizing Triple Clamps.
