Title: frame sliders for a 97 M750 question
Post by: Mike Qube on February 26, 2010, 06:49:24 AM
I ordered a set of frame sliders for my 97 M750. The instructions said to remove the stock bolt and replace it with the one in the kit. The bolt that came with the sliders was a long one that went from one side of the frame to the other. The stock engine bolts are two separate bolts. I tried to put the long one in, thinking it would go form one side to the the other, but what happened was it stopped screwing in at the length of the stock bolts. Am I doing something wrong or was the wrong kit sent to me?

your not suppose to screw it in. your suppose to just slide it in.

try using a jack to lift some wieght off rod and gently taping it with hammer, making sure the otherside lines up. it should go in smoothly, you can throw some lube on it to help it slide too.

The wrong part must have been sent to me then. The bolt that came with them is the exact same size as the stock bolts, excpet very long. If I tapped it through, it would destroy the threads.

You have an older 750 with the Pantah engine.  If my memory is correct, that engine is bolted to the frame with two separate bolts instead of a through  bolt like the 900s and later 750s.

You are right about the two separate bolts. Thats why I thought it was odd when I got the long bolt in the kit. Do you know if there are slider made for my specific mounts?

Someone here was fortunate to have T-Rex make customized parts. They're great to work with - give them a call?

Two separate studs of equal strength markings that are of appropriate length should work if the original bolts are 10 mm.
