Title: That was a trip. Post by: jimboecv on February 27, 2010, 02:33:28 PM Rode Mines Road... last night. Yikes. Pretty exciting. It's the kind of thing that's not really fun . Don't forget to blink. Took 3 1/2 hours, passed two cows in the road and countless rabbits. 36 degrees at the observatory and didn't get above 40 until I was almost in Livermore. Glad I did it but I don't see a habit forming.
Riding a road, one you've been on a bunch of times, gets very diffrent at night, everything is so diffrent. Not just dark but diffrent. What ever. Try it sometime. Title: Re: That was a trip. Post by: desmoquattro on February 27, 2010, 03:25:00 PM I think I need a supermoto first.
Title: Re: That was a trip. Post by: Michael Moore on February 27, 2010, 03:30:34 PM Closest I've come is riding Tam on Easter. Cold, spooky and usually damp. Oh, and some guy riding up your tailpipe.
But the sunrise makes it all worth it. Title: Re: That was a trip. Post by: Popeye the Sailor on February 27, 2010, 04:02:09 PM I'd agree try a twisty at night sometime.
But for make the beast with two backss sake, do it slow. There be a ton of deer and the like out. Title: Re: That was a trip. The worst is at night, no moonlight, deer mating season, bad rainstorm, and lots of fog, all together. :P On a clear night with a full moon, it can be quite nice (but still take it slowly). [thumbsup] Title: Re: That was a trip. Post by: mostrobelle on February 27, 2010, 04:48:00 PM Bet you did it on a Harley with hardpacks, too. [laugh] Ah...I will never forget you cussin' and sparkin' your way up to the observatory on that one ride. You should organize another. [thumbsup]

It's 60+ miles between stations if I remember correctly.Quote But for make the beast with two backss sake, do it slow. There be a ton of deer and the like out .I was really, really concerned about smashing into some huge animal but it turned out the frick'n rabbits were the problem. There had to be 100+, they were everywhere. I've seen a few huge boars out there and there's elk out by the Junction (RIP). Quote On a clear night with a full moon, it can be quite nice There was no moon, just head light so that didn't help. It's was like a David Lynch movie. Ick. Quote Ah...I will never forget you cussin' and sparkin' your way up to the observatory on that one ride. You should organize another. That was too much work, god those things are porkish. OK, so who's down for a full moon Mines ride? [moto] Title: Re: That was a trip. Post by: mostrobelle on February 28, 2010, 05:08:06 PM I'll do one...but very, very slowly.
Title: Re: That was a trip. Post by: jimboecv on February 28, 2010, 05:16:44 PM Yeah, you're usual pace would be fine... even with black ice.
Title: Re: That was a trip. Post by: mostrobelle on February 28, 2010, 07:45:39 PM Nice try. [laugh]
