Title: Ducati Corse Managers
Post by: mitt on March 01, 2010, 05:24:44 PM
I thought 1 or 2 heads were leaving Corse after the '09 Stoner PR fiasco?  Did anything ever come of it, or did cooler heads prevail?

I thought I saw Livio Suppo in the paddock for Ducati at PI, but he went to HRC right?

Yup, Suppo is at HRC.  Some sort of marketing/sponsorship role or something or another.  Apparently, that's where he's especially talented.  It also had something to do with trying to land Rossi in 2011, but I don't remember exactly how.  Something about how Suppo was against Rossi being on a Duc.  Someone else left as well.  Don't remember who it was.  The former rider, Guareschi, is running the show.  Apparently, he has a good relationship with Rossi.

Tardozzi from WSBK left too.

Tardozzi went to BMW.

[laugh]  ...vague and accurate.  ;)

suppo is making sure HRC keeps having enough money for them to win again/keep repsol around/keep the spaniards interested despite no pedro title.  and conspiracy theorists say that marlboro pushed him out cuz rossi is not a fan, whereas he and vito are buddies.

Tardozzi, who knows.  maybe he really did just 'want a change'.  or maybe that was all nonsense and BMW offered him a ton of money but didn't want to look like they were stealing him.  maybe he's just not so into ducati in the absence of bayliss.  or thinks that haga is going to keep nearly, but not completely, pulling it off.

Is it actually possible for Haga to not win WSBK in 2010?

Don't underestimate him.  He has proven time after time that he can snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

I think there won't be just one or two contenders either.

If PI is any indication there will be plenty of guys in the hunt.

exactly. this should be the most diversely competitive season in years.

We'll see.  I think a group is gonna distance themselves from the pack pretty quickly (still not sure who that group will be, exactly), and by halfway through the season, it'll be between 3 or so racers, with one or two others making an unsuccessful late season charge.  Then again, I'm wrong a lot.

agreed, so many variables (including how wrong you usually are.. [cheeky])...

all i'm saying is that there are a lot of guys on the grid who are capable of winning races this year.  like, a LOT.

my prediction ( based on PI) Haslam, Rea, Fabrizio, for sure...to many other maybe's that just might not have gotten good set-up's due to testing and whatnot for the season yet...but we shall see!

I'll bet $10 that Haga will NOT win the title.

I actually want Haga to win it, it's just that I have a terrible track record betting on sports events.

$10 seems a small price to pay to ensure he gets it  ;D

You don't think Haga's gonna be in that group?

honestly?...nope....2nd grouping, yes...with more than a couple podiums...but if he sustains another major injury, it is going to limit how much he can push, and he ain't no spring chicken anymore.

Well Nori has a tough year ahead of him.

While I'm hoping he wins the talent pool is as deep if not deeper then last year.
He started the season hurt.
Fabrizio (douchebag) is looking on form too and we know the team has no orders unless they put them in effect since last season.
Tardozzi isn't there to work with him and he team has a lot of new faces in the pit.
He's going to have to be fast, smooth and VERY consistant this season.
Falling off one or 2 races could be a fatal error.

I hope all the stars align and he does it this year.
