A friend of mine bought a Hailwood and put in in a glass display case with recessed lighting and has it on display on a counter behind his bar in his entertainment room! It looks amazing.
I should also mention that the same friend has theater seating for 6 and a drop down cinema screen in the same room along with a pool table, and various F1 memorabilia.

Therefore you should also mention your friend is F'n loaded [coffee] lol
I thought that went without saying. [cheeky]

idk about 20g, but that bike is still hot, and I'd love to have one in my living room.
that lil racer ain't too shabby, either :D
I love that bike. Heck....I love it so much I bought one.
20k for an MH900e in ANY condition is optimistic. VERY low mileage units (zero to 100 miles) trade fairly often in the 14k to 15k range. Ridden ones don't typically draw much less.
That's my 2 cents,

Saw one sell for $9300 in the local cycle trader... Should've jumped on that for sure...

does he have a battery tender for it?
what is the point of getting a piece of machinery if you aren't going to use it?
sure it looks nice and all but come one, its meant to be ridden or driven or used.

When you have a garage with 30+ bikes, I think is ok to own a few "Trophy" bikes just for show. [thumbsup]
I say we stop talking about this so called friend of yours, im getting more and more jealous of him every time you bring him up [bang]
lol
Wait a minute.....so am I!! LOL!!! [laugh]
That MH has been listed a few times now. (I have been watching ebay religiously for Ducs for the last few months. Really want another one.) Looks like no takers so far. A few other MHs have come and gone during that same time, all much cheaper and still low mileage. I too believe that motos are meant to be ridden, but at the same time I don't think there is anything wrong with adorning your home with some Italian artwork. [thumbsup] My Duc is currently parked in my kitchen/living area and I really kinda like it there, even though I have to walk around it, and even though it's not exactly in near-new-low-mileage condition.
I had two friends who bought those things as "investments". Both of em were for real motorcycle guys otherwise though. Could have bought a new 916 for the same money.
One, Bill had bought new a green frame 750ss back in 74 that is now worth a fortune and had the idea this would be too.
That's just bullshit to me. Bikes aren't investments, or shouldn't be in my way of thinking.
I have never liked those bikes. POS.
This one I like ..... a lot.(http://i463.photobucket.com/albums/qq353/1ajess/MHevo.jpg)
And the new NCR version is to die for. Course for well over 100 large it should be.

i think there are some pieces of transportation that are intended to be collectors items or at least to foster a brand some 'legendary' status. Halo products are crucial in building brand recognition.
IMO when the MH900E came out the aircooled SS was starting to loose it's luster in the Ducati lineup. The MH900E created SO much buzz that the aircooled sport bike could be again cool. But they didn't change the SS to suit the nostalgic buzz and they took too long to come up with the Sport Classic to capitalize.
