i'm rebuilding my diaphragm fuel pump on my 99 m900. i disassembled a week or so ago and have forgotten the order of gaskets and the diaphragm confused. can anyone let me know? also, aren't these types of pumps usually a spring loaded diaphragm? i got the df62 rebuild kit, which is for a dual outlet which doesn't have the thick rubber diaphragm and no spring listed on the included diagram so it doesn't help me.
thanks,
steven
By the Mikuni fuel pump do you mean the stock OEM hexagonal one? My bike is a 1995 Monster and from memory there is a spring and ball type valve in one side of the pump. The Haynes manual only mentions this type of hexagonal pump for carburetor Monsters. There is another aftermarket Mikuni vacuum type pump available from Cal Cycleworks, it is rectangular.
I pulled mine (stocker) apart once and cleaned it out but honestly can't remember the order of the seals/gaskets. Sorry, not much help. The kit supplier any help?
If you are stuck you could buy the aftermarket Mikuni pump. When I noticed the price I decided that in future to replace rather than rebuild. It also looked like less of an eyesore than the stock pump IMO. From the look of it (online), it's dimensions gave it potential for being easier to hide.
Was your pump choked with crap, leaking or just give up?
The dealer here (Australia) only sells new OEM pumps (over $100-00). Was the rebuild kit expensive?
i think i've got it figured out, but we'll see if it spews fuel everywhere when i crank it! I'll update prob tomorrow after I know what's up. if the rebuild doesn't work out, i think i'll just buy a replacement like u suggest
