Title: 2003 620 firing one cylinder
Post by: pecos33 on March 06, 2010, 11:57:06 AM
Bike starts up fine.  The vertical cylinder appears to not be firing.  I am able to keep my hand on its exhaust header.

The spark plug does have spark.  Appears to be wet.  So there is some fuel getting to it.

Not quite sure where to look at next.

Something going on with the injector?

Check the two wire terminals where they attach to the ignition coil.

Speeddog, I read a couple of other threads.  Little different from mine but they mentioned coils.  I was not sure of what they looked like but I guessed and sure enough it worked.

I took one (I think connected to my non-firing head) and just re-seated it.  Then I just saw your posting.  You were right on.

Is this a loose wire or dusty connection?  I will look into it further.

Thanks.

Appears that it was not an easy fix.  Now its back to firing on one cylinder.  Could the wires not be connected properly?

When I did re-seat the connection the first time it worked.  Now its not working.

Try swapping plugs between cylinders to see if the no fire follows the plug.

Little late in getting back but just to close this one out....

I replaced both spark plugs with new ones.  Works fine now.  Thanks.

This seems like the 100th time I've read this solution fixing this problem.  I'm starting to think I should keep two new plugs under the seat at all times.  Must be a reason the only tools in the factory tool kit are a screwdriver and a plug wrench.

So far, I have only had 2 problems with my duc.

First, wouldn't start + clicking noise from a dead battery.

Second, running rough, loss of power, backfiring, stalling, etc. from bad plugs (has happened to me 2 times now)

I bought a charger, and some plugs and life is good ;)
