So I just had my first tip over on my '05 620 the other day in a gravel parking lot. It fell on the right side and I was able to slow the fall the whole way down. I killed the engine and got off the bike and saw that the handlebars were cranked all the way to the right, and it was resting on the bar end slider (MW clip-ons). After picking it up, I checked for damage and aside from some scrapes on the bar end and some leaked gas, I didn't see anything obvious. Checked the brake levers, the front and rear wheel/brake area, clutch casing and painted areas on the frame and tank. Is there anything non-obvious I should be looking for before riding it again?
Just the steering stops on the bottom of the headtube.
I doubt you damaged anything.
A quick check can be just verifying the bars/triples don't hit the tank at full lock, and the gap between the bar/triple and tank is equal.
run your hand on the tank to see if you dented it with the controllers when the handlebar hit the ground, if you turn lock to lock you will see where the controllers are "close" to the tank. when you drop the bike the handlebars tend to get bent for an instant and dent the tank, ie the ducati dent. you might not have a big one but it might be a barely noticeable dimple.
other than that just check to see if the rear brake lever is bent or not, or if the turn signals are cracked or broken.
Thanks guys, the right side clip on was definitely closer to the tank. In fact when I moved and re-torqued it, it appears to have been a bit on the loose side (the bolt) to begin with. Didn't move enough to hit the tank, but I attribute that little save to slowing the fall on the way down. I checked/tightened the left side also as it was a bit loose as well.
