I need to resub and catch the 10% discount, but 121 bucks US.. ouch.   :-\  I guess I paid similar last year and its completely worth it, but tough to swallow up front.

i think i paid the same price for the high-end offering back in 2007.

it does appear they raised the price on the 'standard" package. it's only a 18.5€ ($25) savings over the hi-red package ($121.74 for returning customers).

I ask this every year, and I actually looked at the link and didn't see it, but what is the minimum ISP speed to make this work?

I am usually at 2 to 4 MBps download - is that enough?

What is the video format?
The 2010 MotoGP races are available in Hi-Res+ format, both live and on-demand, and the 2010 races from MotoGP, Moto2 and 125cc are available in Hi-Res live and on-demand. Hi-Res+ delivers quality of 960x540px at 1700kbps depending on your bandwidth, and Hi-Res is 960x540px at 1200kbps. All sessions from all categories on each GP weekend are available in Standard quality live and on-demand, which is 640x360px at 650kbps

cost-wise, yes... watching live? nope.

I prefer to watch them on SPEED. HD 52" screen. They are shown after the actual race, but the outcome is still the same. Actually you can tape it and a week later the outcome will still be the same. Or wait a month or 2, still the same outcome.  :D

agreed, but I'm not enough of a fan to watch the races live in the middle of the night,

and I'm patient enough to wait until it gets posted.

If I see another commercial spot for the hot rod grill during a motorcycle race I'm afraid I might have to go on a shooting rampage in the nearest trailer park.  Which is why I renewed my GP subscription.

I had a motogp.com subscription last year that I barely used b/c my home computer doesn't support the video (and I don't use RU).  So I relied primarily on speed or watching it at a bar or a friends' house.  Occasionally, I'd watch stuff--like interviews--on my work computer, but not much.

I'll prolly sign up again when I buy a new laptap in a coupla months.  I definitely suffer from the "I can't wait for it to come on SPEED or to download it" application.  WSBK absolutely killed me last year.  I *really* wanted to watch it live, even getting up in the middle of the night to watch it (while I still could get a feed).

pennyrobber....you had me worried...I was thinking that there had been strung together some deal with Harley Davidson in an effort to help save the brand or something with a new fangled endorsement deal of some sort...maybe as a pace or safety bike or something....

Not sure if you have looked at Speed's lineup for that day:

http://www.speedtv.com/schedule/filter/date/2010-04-11/2010-04-17/ (http://www.speedtv.com/schedule/filter/date/2010-04-11/2010-04-17/)

Note the non-HD signal. WTF

Anyone that did the VideoPass last year, can you watch the races when you chose to? My plan is to not get up in the middle of the night, but fire up the pc and connect to the 52" and enjoy at my leisure. Dooable?

is Speed still getting their feed from Eurosport though?

doable, but the race isn't available for streaming immediately after it runs live. you'll have to wait and run the risk of seeing spoilers unless you use this link: http://www.motogp.com/en/videos-nospoiler (http://www.motogp.com/en/videos-nospoiler)

If anyone sees anything different with regard to Speed not broadcasting HD, let me know. Otherwise I'll be doing the MotoGP feed.

I don't think speed is the bottleneck in this situation. I think it is the Euro end of things are not as HD yet as us.  The only races I have seen in HD were laguna on cbs.

i'll be doing motogp.com because there's a TON more coverage (practice/qualy/extras) and it's live with no commercials.

depends on who's doing the encode and what broadcast they use.

either "will reach" is a creative way of not saying it's HD from day one this year.  or Speed's website is wonky.

+1

As Derby says, the extra content outside of the races is one of the biggest draws for me.  I enjoy watching all the interviews, side stories, practice/qualy coverage, and the more comprehensive race broadcast with no commercials.  If you're really into the series and the teams/riders, you can't go wrong with the motogp subscription.
