Title: 30,000 and counting...
Post by: lilmonster on March 09, 2010, 04:00:28 PM
Hit 30k today on the Monster. Still running strong. It's only an 08 so maybe it'll go a few more...

Congrats!!  I bought mine with 15K on it in September, and I'm at 19,750 already and trying not to get to the 20K valve adjustment until AFTER I pay my taxes.  I put 800 on it between December 22nd and January 3rd.  So if I can afford the valve adjustments, I might have 30k by the end of the year myself!!

Anyone still in touch with PhilB? Any idea what mileage he's up to these days?

I've got 268,500km (~167800 miles) on my '99 now...

Jebus, big.  On a '99?  I think phil's is a '93.  And that's not your only bike, right?  Wowza.

Congrats, lil monster.   [moto]

That's all canyon carving (just for fun) miles except there are no canyons around here. I ride it nearly everyday after work for 100 miles or so and more on the weekends. I have some decent roads right near where I live and I have had it on the track twice at MSR. I put 25000 on the Honda I had before the Monster, so far I've been riding about 4 years now. I need some people to ride with, the Harley guy I used to ride with some flaked out and I don't have anyone that wants to ride with me. I guess my bike is too loud or maybe it's the clutch noise. LOL Well there's one squid on Ninja that likes to go fast in straight line but that's no fun...

I believe he's close to 180K now. He posts a lot on the CDC's political board, but I think he frequents a different forum as well. Anyway, i think we should throw a party for the first person (on the board) that hits 200K.

Duc 996, I have done most service myself since 7500 miles because dealer charged me over $1000 for that service. I have done oil changes, spark plugs, air cleaner, valve check/adjust with EMS kit and new belts at 15 and 30k. Plus I keep it pretty clean and that gives me a chance to look other things over while I'm cleaning. Done nothing to brakes or clutch besides change fluid check for wear. New chain and sprockets at 20k and getting ready to replace clutch for 1st time. The belts this time around I tried the exactfit belts ca cycleworks. They seem to be as good or better than OE for half the price. I think I have small oil leak behind cam drive pulley but doesn't seem too hard a fix but will let it be for now and see for sure where it's coming from. So far been pretty trouble free. Oh and the pile of tires that I've taken off it.

That's awesome.  I am at 42K on my 04 and you will overpass me soon from the looks of it.   [moto]

i'm curious.. at around how many miles does a 4valver need a rebuild after normal city riding? anyone know what the costs of something like that will run? I only have 17k on my 07 but I look to think ahead :)
