Title: oil temp gauge not working
Post by: ab on March 09, 2010, 04:28:27 PM
It's just blank (well a dash shows but no digits).  The clock works and milage gauge etc.  So it is not the gauge itself.  Any ideas for the mechanically challenged on what to look for remedy ?  (i guess apart from going to shop)

More than likely the problem is the connection on the sending unit.  The sending unit screws into the cap that covers the oil screen.  Look for a 21 mm. hex below and slightly ahead of the oil level sight glass.  You will see the sending unit in the middle of the hex.  The connector is under the rubber boot.

+1 to what howie said.  I had the same thing happen to me.  Turns out the connector wasn't attached to the sending unit properly.  I just moved it back into place... problem solved.

Thanks.  I kind of fiddled with it today and it was coming on and off.  Loose connection, I will look at it weekend for sure.  [thumbsup]

I had the same problem. A rock must have popped up or something because the thermistor (send unit) broke at the stem. $29 later and it's good as new.
