Has anyone heard anything about this new photochromatic visor? It looks cool, but is kind of pricey:

"Your gears are no longer the only things that shift. The S.H.I.E.L.D. Techâ,,¢ Transitions® SOLFXâ,,¢ photochromic visors seemlessly shift from clear to dark smoked depending on the amount of sunlight present. No longer do you need to carry two visors for day and night riding as the Transitions® SOLFXâ,,¢ visors self- adjust to any lighting condition. See great and look great no matter when you ride, where you ride, or what you ride."
Akuma is using them. Also WebBikeWorld has some more info
Good find! Photochromic visors for several manufacturer's helmets!

No it isn't.
The other thread is about an electronic visor and was jacked into a thread about the photochromic visor.
That is cool, I've been running into the issue of having a smoked visor only and get caught working late. One of those might come in handy when the days get shorter in winter . . . if they're available at that time. I wonder if some of those models will be around by the time the visor is available.
I've been lusting after the CF Akuma model, thi slooks like th ecats meeeeoooow

Just bought one last night. Will let you guys know how it's going to fare. Hopefully it's a worthy buy.
I've been running the Bell version on my Vortex all year (same shield as Bell Star).

It works very well. Some mornings it's dark out so the shield is nice and clear, then when the sun hits it, it darkens very quickly. It also does everything in between.
It's pricey, but no need to have more than one shield.
Anti fogging has been very good as well.
My clear visor goes from clear to dark for the price of a cheap pair of sunglasses.
To be fair, I'd probably buy one of it was less than $50.
I have a pair of the "transition " Sunglasses.... and my only complaint is THEY don't get as dark as any of my Oakleys.
Dolph :)
my solution was to buy a helmet with a tinted flip-down inner shield. don't have to be worry about getting stuck riding at night with a tinted shield and I can leave the sunglasses at home now.
My Scorpion EXO 900 has the internal flip down tinted shield. I love it. I aways have both clear and tinted.
This is pretty cool technology. But I went the same route as Bones. I bought a Schuberth and love those helmets now.
I have been using the photochromatic visor from Wiki for the past 2 days. It's been working pretty good for me. I cannot wear sunnies cause' my helmet (SHOEI) is too snug on the sides for me to wear one. So, the visor is exactly what I need. It provides pretty good shade for bright sunny days and still have unimpaired vision at night. So far [thumbsup]. [moto]
