Alright kids-here's the dealie. I've been nominated as the sucker host who will have the joy of having their house defiled graced with the presence of so many of you DMFers.

Date:  Friday May 28 to Monday May 31 2010

Location: Loma Mar, CA. Google it-the roads are epic.

Details:

Food will be provided (If you have special needs-speak up) As will liquor. Beer will be in short supply. There is several grand worth of quality hard liquor here, so forgive the beer shortage. It looks like I might even have a barkeep on hand. Should that come about-make sure to order confusing drinks. Have no idea what an old fashioned is? A highball? Me neither-we'll find out.

The cigar cabinet will be opened. The collection is imported, smuggled, exotic, and available. Consider this my last Hoo-rah before my kid shows up. No smoking in the house.

There are plenty of places to sleep here, regular beds and inflatable ones. First come first served. If you're ancient like Nate, you get some sort of favoritism.

You can camp be you adventurous.

No disturbing my tenant. She is in a separate house, so it shouldn't be too hard to do.

Do not let the dogs out/feed them.

No drinking and driving, period. I'll lock the gate if I have to.

And, after the *last* party..... if you have a medical condition that the host should be aware of, you will inform the make the beast with two backsing host prior to said medical condition becoming overwhelmingly relevant.

There will be a group ride on Saturday or Sunday, depending on crowds, requests, and weather (which should be good). There will be at least one spare bike here, and more if I bother to fix any of the spares. There is plenty of indoor parking for motos.

There's an actual real live guest bathroom (possibly two, depending on when the next one gets installed), number of spare rooms/couches. No one has to sleep outside unless they want to. It's pretty cush. Also have like, four air mattresses and the loft has plenty of room.


Mebbe the wifey will take some photos and post up.

So, a stop in Santa Barbara Thursday night (food and booze provided by Polpetta and SacDuc) then up to DIMBY on Friday morning. Cool.   8)

If'n you're in SoCal and want to stop in Santa Barbara on Thursday night and ride up to DIMBY with us on Friday just add your name to the list below. We have a king sized guest bed and a couch and some floor space. Everyone is welcome to sleep where ever you can find a spot. I have three large dogs though so if you pick the wrong spot they may ask you to move.

I suspect a ride on both days-the socalers and other long distance peeps won't be showing up until late Sat. They;ll probably want to rest. Plenty of routes here, though given the amount of hangovers I suspect the rides won't start until later. I'm basically playing it by ear.

A couple of things have popped up this weekend (and I don't get monday off) so I may not make it.  Might still join for a ride (although I'm picturing a bunch of people all over the road smelling like bacon and booze from there to Davenport--not that that's a bad thing.)

Ryan slept pretty well and his pain is reduced. He's still sick as hell but headed in the right direction. He will see a specialist soon and then likely be discharged. Dave is on his down now. He will ride ryan's bike up to loma mar. Someone else will drive Ryan up.  Paula and Dave said he could stay as long as it takes for him to get better. They are good people.

Thanks for the well wishes. I'm feeling a little bit better.  Just really tired.  I'll post more when I feel up to it.

A big thanks to Dave and Paula for hosting and taking care of me. To Mother and Dave for driving down to pick up me and my bike.

I'm afraid Charlie is in that big grassy field in the sky, most likely stealing my steak. Poor little guy.

Charlie went back to his regular home late last year (we were doing extended dog-sitting for them) and he passed away quietly at home last week, a few days before DIMBY. :'(  He was 15.5 years old.

I cannot explain the world of hurt riding your bike up the coast for you put me in.

I think that photo was taken somewhere around the 800 mile mark of my trip that weekend. I had also slept a grand total of about 10 hours the previous three nights. And my man Ryan had a make the beast with two backsing bacterial infection that got into his blood! But that silly son of a pregnant dog still rode. So yeah, everyone that bagged out on the ride because they had an in grown toenail or because they were busy washing their mother-in-law's car, please see above.

Seriously, its a make the beast with two backsing epidemic in the moto world:
2 months before a ride twelve people yell woooohoooo let's go!
1 week before a ride ten people are stammering "um, well, er, you see . . ." and two guys are yelling wooohooo let's go!
Just be honest with yourselves. You are going or your not. You know within days of hearing about the ride. Why piss around and pretend you're going. A simple yes or no is fine. No shame in either. You wanna day dream about what might happen? Buy a make the beast with two backsing lotto ticket.

After a year away from the bike, I sure do.

But here's what I didn't do for that year: "Yeah man, let's ride!" Two days before the ride: "Aw dude, something came up, but I'll totally meet up with you next time."

You know the same illness must be spreading.

I have an almost new bike , I'm retired and can go riding almost anytime it's not too hot but I haven't gone for a ride in over 2 weeks.

For some reason , I just don't like the idea of sweating in leather at the moment.

I need to get over it.

With 3 bikes , I should be riding at least twice a week.

May be it's the Osteoarthritis , some unhealed Ribs, and soon to be 61 years old ?

Boy, does he ever!  He rode from Santa Barbara up to Carmel (about 275 miles), got a ticket,  pretty much saved my life, slept on a dinky cot in the ER next to my sick ass, got woken up every hour by nurses coming in to check if I was still breathing, warning bells on my HR monitor, a fire alarm, and an orderly "suggesting" he move the meal tray out of the hall and into the room.

He then rode back to SB, got up early the next morning, loaded the three dogs in the truck and with Polpetta drove another 300+ plus miles to DIMBY to make sure my stubborn ass didn't try to ride home on two wheels on monday. 

He then had the pleasure of sleeping in the back of said truck with a stinky dog, and then riding my bike 300+ miles back home to Santa Barbara while I got to take several naps as I was being driven by Polpetta. 

If there ever was a stand up guy who looks out for his friends, it's Carl.  'Nuff said!  [bow_down] [bacon]

Ride when you want. I don't ride everyday or put on a zillion miles every week.  If you aren't going to have fun, why go riding?
